I have the stock-hurst shifter now, and I find it hard for the 2nd to 3rd shift at times.... jsut feels off or something.. anyone have any input on an aftermarket shifter? if so which one?? is it worth it?? thanks.

 

I have a Hurst Billet, and I love it ! Never missed a shift yet, plus I like how the stick angles towards the driver. And it only cost $160. Definetly cheaper than the $325 Hurst option. Only drawback is the extra noise and vibration.

 

anyone have any input on the pro 5.0 shifter? I have seen that in a lot of sigs...

 

I have a B&M short throught shifter and I personally cant live without it. However - I too had to deal with some noise. But I had the hurst before and it was a lot worse in terms of noise.

* To take care of the problem when you put the shift boot back on add some silicon to it and you can also buy a small sheet of automotive sound proofing (audio store or something) to stop the noise. It is super quiet now.

B&M Ripper. Felt a whole lot more solid than the hurst. I am sure the others do as well, but it has adjustable stops. I got lucky and got mine for $100 on ebay.

I do. While I haven't tried the B&M nor the Hurst Billet, I'd fully recommend the Pro 5.0 anyway. It was a huge, beneficial difference. Haven't missed 2-3 since the swap which is easy enough to do for even the novice. Look for it on a group purchase on a board. I haven't noticed the increased noise some people complain about with aftermarket shifters. However, my white ball shifter does rattle to the point I put the factory leather know back on.

 

all of my research points to the pro 5.0.
If I were going to change shifters, I would get it. I would not get the Lous short stick as that angled shaft is not for me..


So far I find no strange noise from my OEM Hurst.

 

Another vote for the B&M Ripper. Awesome shifter that's smooth & unless you're retarded you won't miss shifts...

 

B&M Ripper for me. I haven't tried the others, but can say that this shifter is much better than the stock Hurst shifter.

 

Well, I'd have to say go for the Lou's Short stick. I was in the same bost as you and already had the factory Hurst. I thought since the thing came with the Hurst lets keep that in there, no need to change the whole shifter. The throws with the short stick became around 1/5 shorter like his site says, and it definetely lost all of the rubbery feel in the shifts. It clicks when you put in gear and take out. I love it and got a Hurst T-handle to top it off. Total price was 50-60 bucks, well worth it..
