I'd say try Progressive. I am 21 with quite a few tickets...lost my license for 10 months...I still pay $5000 a year for full coverage on my SS, but that was the cheapest I could find...I had GEICO before them, and they wanted to charge me over $8000/year
Good luck man

If you're gonna stay on your parent's policy have one of them put the TA as their primary driver and whatever they drive put yourself as the primary driver and just pay the difference. I really don't see what the big deal is. I have State Farm and they actually told me to do that when I had my Mustang. My mom was concerned if one of us got in an accident and it wasn't our primary car, but the insurance company said it doesn't matter because we are on the same policy we can drive ANY car under that policy and be covered. Just my .02.

Edit: In case your wondering I live in Jersey and pay $3500/yr.

Looks like I should really check out Progressive. I'm gonna call them as soon as I get home from school on Monday. Since it also seem some places are cool with swaping primary drivers, I'm gonna ask about that too, my mom might do that if the insurance company says it's ok. Thanks alot everyone, I've never been on a message board where I got this many informative responses this quick.

Another thing... My mom opened up a totally different policy for my car. She uses Erie, but they wanted like $1K more a year, so she went with Nationwide. I'm the only car on that policy, but she's still listed as primary. My agent knows that's how we worked it, and they are cool with that. That's where I think a local insurance agency works better with a big centralized one such as geico or progressive where you call their main line.

I got another idea today, a guy at work told me that AARP cut the cost of his insurance in half. Since my dad is over 50 and my mom turns 50 in 2 weeks, we might can do that, if it does cut it that much, then we should have no problem with insurance on a T/A. They want me to do some research on it, so I'm gonna call them tomorrow afternoon, gonna call Progressive too.

I just got my renewal in the mail from progressive, and I had a discount for no claims or tickets in the last 35 months. Maybe that differs by state.

They also just raised my premium from $545/6 mos to $625/6 mos. I guess I shouldnt complain too much after seeing what some of you guys pay.
