I need opinions from Magnaflow exhaust people

I currently have the slp dual/dual, and plan to buy the magnaflow. The slp is much too quiet, but I do not want the obnoxious sound of an Loudmouth etc.... Do you guys think the Magnaflow before adding headers or orp sounds really deep and muscular? I want my car to sound mean. I have heard other sound clips of different exhausts, but my friend told me Magnaflow sounds great and I love the look. Thanks for the help.

I put a Magnaflow muffler on my stock car about a month ago.

The quality of the sound is excellent, but I just wish it were louder. When you start up the car, is barely louder over the stock muffler. As you're hitting the gas to build up speed, it gets louder, but when you have cruise control on, it's quiet again. When your at highway speeds and go to pass someone, the sound is great, real deep and almost like an exotic car. I haven't had my car ay WOT with this muffler on yet, but I've heard it screams (from other guys on here).

For the money, it's a good exhaust.

I have had the Magnaflow exhaust for just over a year. I like it. I wanted an exhaust that was muscular and loud at open throttle. I also to remain on good terms with my neighbors. The Magnaflow delivers on both ends. It has a straight through design. It sounds like a muscle car when you open the throttle. It is quiet when at idle. But instead of the docile purr with the stock exhaust at idle. The Magnaflow produces a nice exhaust burble at idle. You also have a better idea of what's under the hood with the Magna flow exhaust. No drone at cruise speeds either.

The Magnaflow was exactly what I wanted. I would recommend it for an F-body.

The Magnaflow is a definite recomendation from me. I have had mine now for about a year, and it sounds really good. When I first got it, it didn't sound too much different from stock, it took some time ( a couple of hundred miles to burn in), but the sound is great to me. Not too loud, but deep enuff to let those Mustakes know that you do have major pop under the hood. And at WOT, it screams like a demon.

I've had mine since last December and really like it. Like said above nice idle but sounds excellent at WOT. From what I've read flows great also.

I installed a Magnaflow last week. It sounds decent under acceleration. It is barely audible at idle. If you're looking for a mellow tone it's perfect. It's much quieter than the loudmouth or the Flowmaster 2-chamber 80 series (about 1/2 the volume of those). If you're looking for a nice, non-obnoxious sound, it's a great choice. It will not make your car sound like a 60's musclecar, however.

Here is a clip of a stock internal '98 A4 Z28 with some Hooker LT headers, Hooker ORY, and the Magnaflow cat-back:

I personally think this car sounds like A$$. Magnaflow may sound descent behind stock manifolds/cats, but it is not the least bit deep sounding with headers (and especially no cats). Too "metallicy" and nothing like a muscle car this way IMO...

I've been running a Magnaflow cat-back behind FLP's (with cats) for about two years now, and couldn't be happier with the sound. I've heard just about all the different systems (including GMMG) with headers, and would have to say that Magnaflow is one of the deepest sounding IMO.

Anyways, back to the original question. If you're not planning on adding headers in the future and are after sound volume, you may not be pleased with the Magnaflow system. It sounds good, but it is one of the quieter systems out there. It's all a matter of taste really. Why not just replace the muffler on your dual/dual?

That's why it's so difficult when choosing an exhaust system. Personal preference is the key. What's loud to one person may seem quiet to another. Heck, even running LT's, I think that my car is fairly quiet.

^ my magnaflow at WOT flyby after the muffler broke in............Stock exhaust with catback.........

Flows the best, made from stainless steel, and cheaper than the pos corsa and borla systems. Why pay an arm and a leg for an expensive system that sounds "tinny" and doesn't flow any better, whe magnaflow costs less, and lasts just as long.

Buffdaddy, I just installed the Magnaflow catback on my 02 Z-28 two weeks ago. The rest of the exhaust is stock. I love the sound. Nice low deep sounding rumble at idle....not too loud, but louder than the stock catbcak. When I jump on the throttle it really screams. At cruising speed it quiets down but still has "that sound", and the tips look great. I love it, and am not dissapointed. I got it new on ebay for $325 shipped which is the cheapest I was able to find it anywhere. Good luck!!

Magnaflow

I had it on my mustang and decided to go with it on the ss. The quality of the kit is excellent, the fit and finish was really good. It also doesn't make the car sound like a boat. Oh and I took a ride in my friends car who has the loudmouth and it just made me glad I got the magnaflow, the drone is terrible on those things. I will be getting long tubes soon so we'll see how it sounds after that. Can get that clip from above for some reason its not working for me.
