I need help customizing my 2002 Camaro SS. Please Help!!!
Hi and thanks so much for reading my post. I really really need help customizing my Camaro. I'm really excited about it but I really need an experienced opinion on what to do. I'm going to have the engine pulled in 1 1/2 weeks and I know it's important for cost to make sure I install what needs to be installed while I have the advantage of the engine being out and ready for work (i'd like to avoid pulling it twice). I really want to do this right. I want to put everything on except for the super charger which i'm going to do in a few months. So far I have the following parts: ZR1 Wheels 17 x 9 1/2, 17 x 11. Eibach Lowering Kit (springs lower vehicle 1.5 inches). Koni front & rear shocks Slp functional hood. Power programmer. Borla cat back exhaust system. Y-Pipe Edelbrock ceramic coated headers. Mcleod racing clutch. Hurst short throw shifter. Air Flow Research Heads. K & N air intake. Front & rear sway bars. So I guess my main questions are what other things I need to put in while the engines pulled....I know i'm at least going to need a cam, maybe spark plugs, pistons or something. I just don't have the experience to know exactly what to do. Should I get the BBK SSI 85 intake manifold with mass air flow sensor or would another brand be better? Should I go with Hotchkis strut tower brace and sub frame connectors or would another brand be better? what else should i do? What kind of cam should I get? Please help me! Thanks so much for reading this and.... well I hope this works and I am able to get some great feedback!
I need more detailed info to give you some advice. What AFR heads did you go with? What combustion chamber size? Are you 100% sure you're going with a blower? What are you doing about a fuel system? What about a rear-end? Who's doing the tuning?
To answer some questions:
The FAST 90/90 is the best intake manifold out there, seconded by the LS6 intake manifold. These are the only two I'd suggest.
The Hypertech Power Programmer is a piece of trash.
Cam selection depends on if you're going with the blower or not. All of these things need to be addressed.

If your car is an SS, the SLP "funtional" hood is implied....
Why are you pulling your engine to do all that??? It isn't necessary.
For a cam change, you'll also need hardened pushrods (determine length after you install the heads and cam), put some better lifters in (since the heads are off), and get a ported or mellings oil pump, and an LS2 timing chain.
You'lll also need a good tune, not the Power programmer junk. Your decisions here will be MAF or speed density and which shop/individual to get to tune it or DIY.
Wow, a real racing clutch??? Thats pretty vague like when people say they have a "3/4 racing cam." Textralia probably makes the best clutch for these cars.
Suspension..what do you want out of the car? A drag set up or handling or something in between that is a compromise of both?
No offense but it sounds like you're just going to through money at the car in hopes that all the big names will add together for a great combo. My advise, SLOW DOWN and RESEARCH first before investing all this money and ending up with an expensive but underwhelming performing car that someone w/half your mods will outrun. Or if you are impatient and have deep pockets, find a shop that really knows LS1 f-bodies, take your car to them and tell them what you want and then step back and let them do their job.
