Question I have a 180* t-stat in my car, what if I use my HPP to make it think its a 160*?

Pros, Cons?

I'm going to M7 tomorrow to race, and I want to get some good times. I have to reprogram my car tonite anyways due to a gear swap, and I was thinking about my thermostat. What happens if I say its a 160? Will it still act as a 180*?

Please help.

Unfortunately the thermostat itself is actuated by physics and not electronics. However, one of the free mods is a change to the thermostat which will change the temperature at which it opens. Not a trivial change, but if you have the stuff on hand.
The HPP mod is for the fan switch and the temperature it opens at. Go ahead and try it for M7.

Good luck there. Should be fun.

I doubt it will hurt anything. The fans will come on at 160* and the thermostat will open at 180*

I dont know the fan deal, but if you did that to your t-stat on the PCM then your car should run rich cause it will think its colder then it really is all the time...Therefore adding more fuel then is needed, unless you have a cam and a ported TB it will probally hurt your setup more then anything IMO...
