I hate LS1's Already HELP!!
Got my SS few days ago and it has a exhaust leak its coming from the drivers side rear. I changed the manifold gasket for that side and the both ypipe gaskets and it is still making the damn noise. What the hell is it. I checked to make sure plugs were tighten and they are. Didnt seemed striped either. What else is there it sound like it coming from the back, maybe even half way down the engine. Any thing
I dont hate them reall the car is fast as **** i love it!!!!

sounds like a exh manifold is leaking out the back but i changed the gasket and put my hadn back there and didnt feel any air coming out. Or maybe a big vac leak but im almost positive its exahust related somewhere
Did you evenly tighen the gasket on the manifold and ypipe?, if you didn't it can cause a leak . get them all snug, then tighten. In other words dont tighten one all the way, then the next, etc. This happened to me, and it cured my leak.
I also hate my LS1. It's at the dealership right now for repairs. Only 3600 miles and the clutch is toast. Burnt smell at the time. Lack of power in the midrange and topend. Warped front rotors, rattle sound not sure if it's piston slap because it get louder up to 2k rpm. Also part of the back bumper is brown not black. I've though about getting rid of it already. If the dealership doesn't fix the problems then I will. I might of got a Lemon. Time will only tell.
Try to get a hold of a stethascope for listening to engines. Take off the solid rod and diaphram at the end and replace it with a piece of vacume hose. Now go around all the areas you think the niose is comming from. If it is a leaking gasket, you'll be able to tell.
If you can't get a stethascope, put the end of the vacume hose in your ear (no laughing, do this at your own risk and be careful) and do the same as above. You'll get the same result.

Do the 00s' have AIR injection? The only thing not mentioned yet is the gasket on the air injection tube @ the manifold.
If it does have Air injection did you seperate the tube@ manifold while doing the manifold gasket? Maybe that was the sound all along being the sound hasnt gone after the other gaskets replaced...providing you did the manifold gasket correctly like silver96z28 said.If you did and didnt get a new gasket for the air tube and just put it back together that could be it.If even a little piece is missing of it it'll make exhaust leak sound.

Easiest way to find an exhaust leak: get a blowgun and shoot a little compressed air into the tailpipe. Not too much though, can be bad for the cats. Then feel around for air blowing out. No need to burn your hands and more pressure blowing out than when its running.
EDIT: Use soapy water if the exhaust is cool enough. Bubbles are easy to see.

too me ivve heard the bent push rod ticking noise and sounds like a air leaking noise. And i did snug them all up and tightten after. the air tube i felt around for air, doesnt seem like anything is coming out. so im completly clueless. what i mite do is get a video of the noise and post it and see what u guys think.
