Hypertech Power Programmer?

I just need a little info on the Hypertech Power Programmer because I just went to talk to this hot rod shop about putting 3.73 gears in my 98 Z28 and they were wanting to recalibrate my speedo and everything. So I asked him if I could just get a HPP to do it instead and he said that like 90% of the time it won't actually change it. So any help appreciated.

hahhaha

I wouldnt even let them do any work on my car just for that response!

If they lie they lose my business
If they are too stupid to know anything, then they lose my business

Just a safeguard I found that works for me..

I would suggest going elsewhere and yes the HPP can do the speedo calibration properly 100% of the time if you follow the directions.. My LT1 had its done at a GM Service Center.

Ask them how they intend to recalibrate the speedo ...because the only way to do it "properly" is to go into the PCM and reprogram.

There are ways to do it with out using the speedo, but you will knock your speed limiter down into 115-130 mph range depending upon what gears you had to start with.

Besides sounds like these guys are just trying to push you into to buying stuff from them.

HPP

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help. They quoted me $700 to just put in 3.73's and reprogram my speedo. They also told me that since my rear end is beginning to whine with the stock gears and everything that there is a good chance my posi unit is going out and it would be $1400 to replace it and the new gears. So I think I'm gong to just buy the gears, instal kit and a HPP to reprgram everything and have my uncle help me with it.

Not much ... You can caliibrate the speedo, delete the top speed limiter, change the fan turn-on temp, and install the pre-set power tuning that may or may not help you.

If you had an A4, it would really liven up the car. But, with the M6, I'd suggest adding another $200 and just getting LS1-Edit.
