HVAC Fan Noise

Hi Guys,

After getting my Z28 last winter, I notice the blower fan for the HVAC is very loud at medium to high fan speed. I'm not talking about the high velocity air moving around in the fan, it actually sound like the motor is out of balance or something. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,

Walter

Yes sir, I know exactly what you mean. That blower motor is very very loud at medium to fast. It is to **** me off cause the blower motor in the 88' caproce i had was very quiet. Now i just except it as one of those things you live with driving an F-body.

I've only had my car for 2 years now and last winter was a rather warm one, but this year's winter is brutal. It has been bitterly cold lately and right now we are getting hit with almost 2 feet of snow. So I have been using the heat in my car a lot lately and I know what you are talking about - it sounds like a bad vibration of some sort but not on low settings - sounds like something is loose and rattling around somewhere in the dash - really weird and annoying - has this happened to anyone else and any remedies????
But i do know what you mean - but i have no clue how to fix it - sorry

I'm having the same problem. Did you guys fix yours? It sounds like something is stuck in the fan, like a peice of paper, or the fan blades are off balanced.

Is the HVAC fan/motor easy to get at? any tips?

Mine ticks at low speed... same thing in my dads burban... seems to be a gm thing in general. I crank mine on high for 5 sec, then turn it back down and it goes away...

prob a different problem since going faster makes mine go away

I HAD the loud noise on medium and especially high speeds. I took it in and the dealer replaced the fan motor. Sounds like I'm not the only one with that problem. I'm not sure exactly what was wrong with it. All I know is they replaced the motor. I do know that is not normal. Both of my dads firebirds never did it (2001 and 2002). Mine runs perfectly quiet now.

For me, the problem seemed to have gone away by itself, now here is another winter, hopefully i didnt open my mouth up too soon. But mine went away by itself, so i got lucky i guess
