How reliable are tire plugs?

Post How reliable are tire plugs?

Got a dam nail in my tire the night before SLP day here in ohio. Got a tire plug kit at walmart for $7 to tide me over til SLP day passes How reliable are these things?

Standard shop repair. Ream it out, and put the plug in, and it will last for the life of the tire. My wife must have magnets in her tires. Her last set must have had 3 plugs in each tire.
