got a 00 SS with t56 and i have no sixth gear. It only engages it once out of 1 tries and u have to like drop the clutch and i dont like doing that. It just grinds the gears and winds itself down to like 1000rpm. So does anyone how much it would be to rebuild the whole thing??$$$ and im gunna put a Z06 clutch in it while its out, they ok car is mostly stock Lid and no muffler but mite put 125hp TNT on it sooner or later.

 

Usually gears are about $150 each plus the cost of installation. I'm not sure if they'll have to replace the syncro. Labor should be around $500 but it varies a lot depending on what exactly is wrong.

 

I wouldn't put a ZO6 clutch in. Stock feeling a LITTLE more holding ability then stock.

you would like an aftermarket clutch much more I think. (Centerforce, Spec, Mcleod)

BTW Grandpa has 2 Zo6s so I do know how that clutch feels (new and Broken in)


Also on the price I had a WHOLE NEW trans dropped in my SS 5000 miles ago, covered by warranty , I paid 100 deductible and bought a new centerforce clutch (awesome despite what everyone says about it not work good in our cars, Got to break it in good)

Ok just found the invoice on the trans $3992 for parts (labor more) Brand new everything.... sooo I just realize I cant really help you on a rebuild price so hope I help a little

 

It takes 3-4 hours to R&R the whole tranny. Multiply that by your favorite shops labor rate

You can get all the available upgrades from D&D Performance in Michigan.

$4K for a new T56, plus labor? Most of the remanufactured trannies (which included the latest parts) go for ~$1800 max. There's a place in NY which sells a race prepped T56 for ~$2400.

I wouldn't do the Z06 clutch, either...not if you're planning on nitrous. Haven't heard much about Centerforce or McLeod recently. The Spec's & Ram's seem to be doing well.
