The t56 is an incredibly strong transmission. I know people who have put over 900 hp through these. The weak links being the syncros and shift-fork. Many dont use them at the track because an auto is more consistent.

 

Yes, the tranny's are very strong, and the sychro's are weak, but horsepower handling has nothing to do with the synchro's. Input/Output shafts are usually the first casualties.
