How much HP can 346ci produce? Full internals and boost.
ok... I was just wondering.. You don't really see too many stock cube LS1's producing BIG #'s.. Is it because people just go to larger displacement, or they don't want to bother upgrading?
My 408 dream is on hold for a while and I was dancing around the idea of how much HP a 346ci block can produce.. I'm talking full forged internals, stock stroke and bore, just better internals such as a Callies crank and rods, better main caps, oil pump, timing gear and chain set.. etc etc...Iron block may be a better idea as far as strength.
maybe a 230 duration cam w/ .590 or so lift on a 113. Boosted.. 800hp?
Ideas?

Secondly, the sky is the limit depending on application.
Futral was the first NA 346ci LS1 in the 9s as well as the first 6-speed car. I think he went something like 9.9 @ 136.xx with stock cubes, Solid Roller, Larry Meaux LS6 heads, and a sheetmetal intake and the car made well over 500 rwhp about 4 years ago.
As far as forced induction goes, there are plenty of guys making well over 600rwhp on stock cubes. It wouldn't surprise me if they are around 700 rwhp by now.

D1SC or a F1 + some nice heads and a good cam will put you there

^ yeah.. The 408 I want to do is about 500 hp NA on a 232* and .640 lift cam w/ 9.5 compression.. on boost it will do 930hp.
I'll be doing a turbo, so it may be slightly more. 500 HP really isn't too far out of reach on an even stock bottom end LS1.. BIG cam and good heads will get you there. cripes, the MS4 and PRC stage 1 heads made 140 hp over stock.. they dyno'd a STOCK 02 LS1 @ 400 FWHP and that H/C w/ a FAST 90 made 141hp more. Figure 541 FW on that.
I realize forged internals don't make HP, it's just insurance..

.. Figure bump the compression down to handle more boost.. maybe 9.5 or 10..If you're going forced induction, 9.5:1 is about the most you'd want to go. If you're going big forced induction like you're talking about, I wouldn't go over 9:1.
You goals aren't too far off, but I think it's going to take much more money than you think once you get everything going if you're talking about building something that's going to do 930 horsepower.

^ yeah.. the 408 NA would have ran fine on the stock ECM w/ a tune, and a new fuel system.. But once I added the Turbo the price doubled, and then I'd need a new ECM system.... That whole system was going to run me $18k... Dual fuel pumps and all new lines, new ECM system (still haven't figured out) then add in a K member, beefier susp and rear.. was going to go w/ a 9" for the rear..
I have to start from scratch w/ this car anyway.. it'll be a while..
.... The WHOLE exh needs to be replaced.. and I'm in the process of re planning the susp system.. NEW DD SFC's, Sways... maybe new shox & struts.. New PHB, New LCA's..
