How Much HP?

Ok tommorrow I will be installing an SLP Lid, MagnaFlow Cat-Back, Trottle Body Bypass, and Smooth Bellow "I know its sux". How much HP do you think I am making @ the RW and @ the Crank? I'm just curious, I have a 2000 SS Camaro. I will be buying an SSRA next Check, how are the gains on that? Also how much more HP will I be making when I install JetHot LT's and Catted Y-Pipe.

Was that with the cut-out open or closed?

Mine put 317 / 335 with just a lid & Flowmaster (aka, choke-master) cat-back. Oh, and I guess I have my TB by-passed too .

I have just installed Jet Hot LT's on my car, but I currently have the transmission out to do some synchro repairs ... I'll be going back to the dyno though once she's on the road again to get new #'s. I would "expect" at least ~15 HP gain at the wheels from the headers alone. Also, the Magnaflow cat-back is supposed to actually provide some noticable gains (which I've also got to install on mine to replace the Flowmaster) so we'll see what that does?

To figure crank HP, take your RWHP and divide by 0.88 (this is assuming approx. 12% drivetrain loss through the M6). For example, 317 RWHP / 0.88 = 360 HP (flywheel) .

the ssra will give you some extra power, but you will not see it on the dyno. its a cai under 50mph, over that it becomes ram air. id estimate 5-8 hp at wot on the highway/track.

like pete mentioned, 12% is about average drivetrain loss for m6, little higher for a4. (15-20+% depending on mods) injuneer has a wicked car but is losing ~100+hp in the drive train if i remember correct from his post.

Lid + Cat-back should be a solid 15rwhp over stock on an M6. You might find another 10hp with the headers. Assuming you'd put down 310 in stock form, I'd guess ~335ish rwhp. If you assume the 12% drivetrain loss mentioned above, that would put you at ~380hp at the crank.

If you do all of this, try to get to a wideband O2 - either a friends or one hooked up at the dyno. You'd be surprised how many lid/header/catback cars run lean at WOT and not know it.

"Assuming you'd put down 310 in stock form"

isn't that being a little generous?? i would think 300 even would be a better estimate.

inflated stock dyno numbers are the reason so many guys are disappointed when they dyno 325rwhp with lid, LTs and exhaust.

but anyway...

with all the mods you listed you should be well into the 330rwhp range

Well, given he had an M6, I was going based on my Lid, G-MAF, !cats, Borla #'s on the '99 M6 that I had...and, assuming a 12% loss, 310rwhp is roughly 350hp at the crank. I would expect LS1's to have a 1:1 HP:c.i. ratio in stock form...or close to it.

'99 numbers
