How much is an '01 WS6 Trans Am worth?

The car I'm looking at has 26,000 miles, red, black leather, t-tops, hurst shifter, chrome wheels, brand new Goodyears, in mint condition. If I were to pay top dollar in todays market for this car how much would I spend? To make a long story short, I'm trading my 2002 Z06 on this car to reduce my monthly payment. I've been trying to unload the Z06 for quite some time at $40,000 and am having no luck. Which got me thinking that maybe the WS6 would be easier to sell. Can someone give me ab idea of the value?
Thanks!

Maybe this will help...

Also, try www.edmunds.com

They have a True Market Value calculator that takes your location into consideration.

Thanks for posting! The NADA value you posted is for a regular Trans Am which shows $26,800. For a WS6 it shows $29,000 which obviously is a bit rediculous. Edmunds shows a value of $23,000. I wonder why there's so much of a discrepancy in the two?

In July of 2002, I paid $26,000 at a local Pontiac dealer for a 2001 WS6 with every option in the book.

I went through this exact same situation just a week ago. I was looking at the black 2002 ss 6 speed leather hurst shifter, power everything. I got the car enentually after my dad made several phone calls to freinds he has throughout the L.A. dealers. the dealer the car was at was 27k on special. WE thought it was a little to much since you can usually negotioate the price down from what they asked. Anyway All of his contacts down there told him that it was an excellent deal because these cars are becoming very rare at dealers due to everyone holding on to them as a collectors item. In other words if you cant afford it and it is completely loaded with all the options you want, go for it. In the L.A. area good condition ones are becoming rare, especially with 6 speeds. my car has 10k miles on it. Hope this helps you, but im sure some people will have a counter argument(remember good deals on a low mileage fully loaded, premium, discontinued car are getting hard to find.)

Forget about getting a 'great' deal. I mean, if you can get a great deal, fine, but get the car that you want. Sure, you don't want to get screwed but as codyman16 said, there are going to be fewer and fewer 'great' deals. Just find one that's in good shape and snag it!

Well, I ended up buying it. They made me a great offer for my Z06 in trade and I ended up coming away with quite a bit of money. I guess now it's time to start thinking of some mods.

Now your going to blow the remainder of the money trying to make that WS6 as fast as the Z06, and your not going to have all the bells and whistles of the vette, plus your not going to get equal gas milege because the TA is heavier and the TA won't handle as well, personally i would have kept the vette. although i'm sure the TA is very nice.

Congrats on the purchase, I personally don't see the need for the extra money on a vette over a WS6 it doesn't take ALOT of money to get a TA to be as quick as a Z06, insurance is less. It is argueably more reliable. parts and labor are MUCH cheaper. ANd the looks of the WS6 LS1 are pretty spectacular. Although with these prices you guys are posting maybe I should sell mine. I just picked it up for 19,600 with 13,200K miles on it I've been looking for an SOM for awhile and I saw the add and drove the 200 miles to Seattle the very next morning!

The Z06 is an awesome machine but the WS6 is a more economical toy (well as economical as you can trick yourself into believing

What color is it? Always like to see pics!

Congrats on the WS6 Purchase.. I do agree that a WS6 is a more economical car, yeah sure driving a Z06 is cool but the newer vettes are really not my cup of tea so to speak. IMHO, the Vettes I like were 53 - 73 w/ 63 Spit Rear Window being my favorite Vette of all.. Plus the 70's Vettes had that 2 mile long front end that I like as well...

Again Congrats on the WS6 purchase. And I do agree with codyman16, since even when I bought my car, it was hard to find an F-body w/ low miles and still be in good shape, even worse, was the combo that he found, an 02 SS w/ 10K miles M6 extremely hard to find.. When I was shopping around Z28's w/ M6 was hard to find, so I decided just to buy my car which has A4 but it had 10K miles on it as well =), alas I did get a great deal though!! But trying to find one now that is in Great Shape is a rare find because most people who buy these cars (especially in my area) tear them up badly...

I'll post a couple pics later today. I'm at work right now. I think I'm going to keep the WS6 close to stock. I'm not worried about making it as fast as the Z06. I'll probably do the small stuff like exhaust, lid, pulley's...etc.

On that note, what would be some worth while mods to do? Which lid is the best? I don't want an extremely loud exhaust, but a decent rumble with a nice performance gain wouldn't be bad. We're supposed to have a nice day today, so I'm looking forward to taking the T-tops off and doing some spirited driving to get myself used to it.

Im not too sure yet what mods are best for the ls1 when it comes to picking brands. Even though you ws6 isn't as fast as the vette i beleive you will be very happy with it, they are very nice cars. IMHO. congrats on the purchase, Have fun doing your "spirited" driving.

Thanks guys! Condisering I was paying $800 per month for the Z06, I feel a thousand times better knowing my payment is down to $300 per month. I promise to get those pictures up later today. Gotta go hit the golf course now.
