How loud is "loudmouth"?

Right now i got flows 40 series on my car and an SLP Y pipe. I mean it sounds pretty mean, but i want to get a new exhaust system thats gunna yield more power. So i decided to go with SLP loudmouth. But i was just woundering how "Loud" it was? Like my car as is, is pretty loud down low, but when it reaches the upper rpm's it quiets out. Flows sound good between 1500-2500 rpms after that they get quiet.

So my question is how loud is the loudmouth? IS it annoying loud? Does it give ya a head ache? I had an old 87 monte SS with a 355ci and 3" true dual's with flows and that sucker was loud as hell and it was my daily...lol so loud really doesnt bother me, i was just woundering how it was. I am sure this question has been asked before and i am sorry for asking it again. Does ne one have any sound bites? Thanks guys

I was asking the same question and was told the dynomouth setup is a little quieter, so I went with the dynomouth. I'll tell you the dynomouth is damn loud and has me wondering what the cops will say.

I love my loudmouth. It has a nice rumble at idle, and a awesome scream at full throtle. I asked the same question as you did, about how loud it is, well I don't even think it is to loud anymore to tell you the truth...so it's not that bad. I do wish I would of gone with dual cutout's instead though. Get the LM if you don't plan on getting headers in the future. Hope that helps.

loudmouth is certainly barable for every day driving as long as you don't mind louder than normal exhaust.... once you get on it it'll alert every cop in the area, well atleast mine did.

Ok thanks, thats the answer i was looking for. Like i said i used to have 3" true duals on my old car and that ****** was loud as hell. It was so loud it would shake my dashboard....lol But i want a loud system just not insainly loud. I dont mind if the cops hear me cause thats what a radar detector is for And yes i dont plan on getting headers ne time soon.

Ok thanks guys for helping clear this up

I have it on my LT1 with LTs and ORY - The name suits it good with that setup. Never have gotten pulled over though. I'd image it's pretty tame with stock manifolds.

The loudmouth is loud but it only gets loud when you stomp on the gas. Otherwise if your just cruising around the city its very tame. The highway can get a little loud depending on how fast you drive. I can drive at 60-65 and the exhaust is very quiet. however when i drive around 75-85 it drones pretty bad and the people in the backseat cant hear themselves think. But i would say that it is very bearable for everday because my Z is my only car and the exhaust has never bothered me, even on 3 hour trips. I say get it...i love the sound of mine.

Thumbs up

I'm running the LM dyonmouth conversion with SLP y-pipe and stock cats/manifolds.
I too was pretty concerned about the noise at first, I had a flowmaster 80 series before which like you said was nice and deep down low but really quieted down as rpm's went up.

I opted to go with the longer dynomax bullet (18" if I remember) in place of the loudmouth resonator and at idle low rpms (idle/crawl) it is comparable to stock. It gets louder/deeper at about 1800 but it is never too loud (I work in downtown San Diego and park in an office building garage and have never had anyone even notice)
When you do get on it though EVERYONE will notice!

some people will think your racing around when your not..

The 2000 rpm drone/resonance- some people like it, some hate it. I'm a bit tired of it.

I love it when its a clear day with no traffic and I'm taking the backroads.. Sounds awesome.. If you drive it right in the city, it sounds great too.. I've gotten complements from strangers on how good it sounds..

I start to tire when its poor weather, with loads of traffic, and I just want to get home..

When i had my monte it was carbed and in the mornign i would start it up to warm it up and it would go vrooooomm, vrooom and i would have to kick it down and people would be like stop reveing ur car, its annoying i am liek hey listen its carbed i gotta kick it down.
But we will see, i am gunna get it, its cheap yeilds alot of power for whats out there. Stainless and should last a while.

I'd recommend you not buy one without hearing one in person first. It's too loud and unrefined for my taste. Also, consider whether you'll go to headers and catless in the future as that will affect how you choose your setup. The LM with headers and no cats is just obnoxious.

I've actually seen a decently modded LS1 with Headers and Loudmouth. Dunno if it had the cat on it still or not. It sounded mean as hell and could be heard from quite some ways. I liked it.

I have the Loudmouth and I personally don't like it. From out side of the car it sounds ok but if you are cruising about 2000 rpm's it sounds like crap. I added a Dynomax Bullet in place if the resonator and helped a little but to me from inside of the car it sounds like a beater that had the muffler fall off.

This spring I will be switching it for the Hooker Catback with Hooker Long Tube headers. I heard this setup on Bob's car at EPP in Ft Wayne and it sounds much more refined verses my car sounding like a beater.

Good Luck,

Al
