I just reinforced my rear with a TA girdle, but i also have 4.10's, how long will the rear last if i use drag radials? i am running on street tires now and i'm looking to get into the mid 12's.

There's no way to know for sure.

It may last a couple passes or it may last a couple hundred passes. If you want it to last as long as possible, launch a little easy...like around 3000-3500rpms...and don't "dump" it. You shouldn't have a problem cutting a low 1.9 - high 1.8 doing this on a good track.
I don't know what your 60's are right now but I would imagine that you should be able to get a mid 12 w/ a low 1.9. Your times are almost identical to mine (ET and trap) and I made that pass with a 2.19 60' so I'm pretty confident that with a low 1.9 I could get a 12.6.

Cool

The 10-bolt is not as weak as people think. I have made well over 100 passes on my 10-bolt with ET Streets and cutting mid-low 1.7 60' times.

Yes the 10 bolt does get a bad rap! I agree that it is more than strong enough to handle 4.10's and DR's. Now, if you add slicks into the picture and plan on droping the hammer @ 5000rpm then its another story. I personally know a guy that has 4.10's and DR's and he beats the hell out of it on the street and at the track (drops it at 3000rpm) and he has had no problems....2yrs running. I to will be adding 4.10's next month and hope to see some 1.8 60' times along with some 12.50's are better. A guy who works for ThunderRacing say the stock 10 bolt can withstand 1.7's but if you dip into the 1.6's on a regular basis then start saving for a 12bolt.

Could be a day, a month - who knows. I know someone who broke a stock rear on street tires on a heads/cam car, it happens.

With 420 rwhp and 4.10 gears mine went 20 passes at the track. It never broke but I swapped in a 12 bolt anyway. As long as you don't dead hook you should be good for a while.

My friend just snapped his last Thursday with his 4.10's. He did 3 runs at the strip and then broke it on DR's

Wtf is a "rear end"?

Does that mean the gears?

What's up with this 12 bolt stuff? You bolt extra bars onto the suspension/axles or wut?

Don't forget, i'm a noob

My rear lasted a whole season on BFG's and 4.10's. I ran low 12's/high 11's all year long dumping the clutch between 3800 and 4400. Then again my buddy busted his 4.10's on his 3rd pass with my tires I lent him.It basically comes down to how lucky you are.

u drive a SS and u don't know what a rear is.... i dunno, something just seems wrong in that. The rear is what ur dryshaft connects to. inside the rear is the gears that u car has. Stock our cars come with a 10 bolt, meaning if u look underneath ur car from behind u will see 10 bolts holding the cover on. 12 bolt rear obviously has 12 and is much much stronger.

A small 10 bolt at that, 7.5" gears instead of 8.2"/8.5" like the older cars.

Uh....

Why is it so shocking that I don't know everything about my car? I stated once in my message and another time in my sig, that I am a fuqin newbie!

A newbie is someone who is NEW to something. Are you telling me that there was never a time in which you did not know what a rear end was either?

Give me a fuqin break man. I asked for an answer, not bs.
