How do you know if its an SS?
After a few rides in my car, a friend of mine is looking to buy a 2001 SS. He found a good deal, but is scared that its just a clone. What is the best way to tell if its a real SS or not? Carfax was no help, vin decoders are useless.
I tried doing a search here, but didnt really come up with anything ... so try not to flame me too bad

people can change a door/sticker.
isn't there a number stamped on a piece of metal in the engine compartment somewhere. i thought only the authentic ss's had a seriel number or something along the lines of that on a bracket or something.
Wouldn't the door sticker with the WU8 on it also have the VIN#? If the VIN on the sticker doesn't match the one under the windshield, there's a problem. I doubt someone would go through very much trouble to pass it off..let alone change a sticker. How much money could really be made off of that? I mean, the car already has the SS gear (hood, etc.).

hehehe
