How difficult to install lowering springs?
I am thinking about getting a set of lowering springs for my '98 SS. I will either get RKsport(1.5" drop) or BMR(1" drop). How hard/easy are they to install. Would you recommend doing it myself or taking it somewhere to get installed? I am pretty handy with my car. I installed my LM exhaust, air lid, CAI, MAF ends, and underdrive pulleys myself.
Thanks
Thanks
If you have wrench sense it's not that bad.
The biggest thing is to take your time and double check yourself so you do it safe and correctly. Safe being a big part since the process of removing and installing the fronts is potentially life threatening if you ignore safety features on your tools.
That is another point, tools... There are several tools that you either must have, or tools that make the job much less frustrating.
For example, you must have a spring compressor, jack, jack stands, and a T-50 mounted in a socket along with all your standard hand tools.
Things that make the job shorter and less frustrating are things like an impact wrench (air or electric) and pickle fork.
I have tips and tricks for cutting stock springs on my website, not all of it applies if you have aftermarket springs, and I don't go into every detail of the process, but some of it might be helpful if you want to check it out.
Good luck
Dave
