The 2002+ LS6 cam is a cam that's much better than the stock F-body cam.

If that's too small, you might be able to get away with the LS1 Hot Cam, but that's on a 112 LSA...not really sure about that cam since we don't have emissions here.

Thats a negatron, I thought of doing the same thing, then I learned about the California Air Resource Board and the Executive Orders (EO's) that must accompany any engine modification. The only thing that you can do to the engine that is smog legal is a K&N FIPK and shorty headers and muffler. No fingering of the inside stuff ...kinda like a high school first date.

i got a buddy that has a 96 f150 with a good running 306 with a custom grind cam he had made up and yet he can get away with smog as you can see it is pretty lumpy. here is a 1/4 mile run on the dyno http://youtube.com/watch?v=ivYxasl5oag
and a idle vid http://youtube.com/watch?v=-10ba1tqH2c
(by the way ran this truck a few days ago, and im sure you know i spanked him)

That cam above is a 216/224 116 LSA

What you need to look at is overlap. Some have passed with -4*, but your tune would make or break you.
http://www.wallaceracing.com/overlap-calc.php

The cam above is -8*. The 224 I mentioned is -4 (you said you wanted the hottest which to me would be on the edge). There are stealth grind cams from MTI, TR and LPE. Most have whats been desribed as a nervous idle. In other words it had a slight stutter for a lope. You'd probably be much better off with the GT2-3 from Lingenfelter. It is a 207/220 .571/.578 118.5. It has -23.5* of overlap and idles completely like stock. I have a friend running this cam w/ported heads and bolts ons and it sounds totally stock but puts down 400 whp. The inspectors would never hear the cam and it will pass emissions. Its just a way around the laws.

The hot cam lopes like a bigger cam and w/-1.5* overlap it would be dirty.

My Stealth II idles nearly stock. I'm using it with the LS1 I just swapped in and it runs great and is totally stealth. The problem your gonna run ito is you want it to lope. Any cam that has an obvious lope will be hard to tune through emissions.

Also if it is obvious that the vehicle has a cam they are gonna want to see your CARB exemption paperwork.

Glad I don't live in CA.

What about TR's cheater cam? I have read good power gains from that, and it is supposed to idle like stock. Not sure of it's emissions passing capabilities however.
