Is home-made ram air worth it?

Well, the hood scoop and the air lid i have on my car seem it be pointless considering the very small amount of air that GM allows into the intake, making it only like 2 CM of space to draw air from..

I've read write-ups on cutting that out and getting fairly decent power gains.. Is it worth taking a tool to my brand new SS for this? I'm not going to start chopping sh*t up for 5hp.

If you want more air and good gains leave the hood alone and get a Super Sucker Ram Air.

I wouldn't be cutting the hood, just the plastic under the air filter.

One of the magazines I read got 15 hp out of the ram-air, egr, and tb bypass. I'm prone to believe them, since no one is paying them to test that kind of stuff.
