Help Voltage gauge going down

I upgraded my sparkplugs to bosh platinum 4's and my cables to msd's 8.5mm. Now suddenly after driving the car for a while when I let go of the gas pedal at about 40 mph my voltage gauge drops to the bottom and my lights dim and the car feels like its going to stall. Also when the car is parked and idle it feels like its going to turn off but it does not. Does any one have an idea of what could this be. Also if I do not use the car for more than 24 hrs it will not start after wards or start very weak. I changed the battery but it still doing the same thing. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Lightbulb Check for simple stuff.

For example -

any possibility that you disconnected one of the wires running to the alternator ?

Auto Zone offers free on site testing - that's another route to take.

My guess from what you have described is that the alternator is going bye bye.

Have it checked before you spend more $'s , though.

Good Luck !

Lightbulb Never done a 4th gen F alternator, but ...

I have had very good luck w/ the A/C Delco line of rebuilds.

O'Reilly's here in H-town carries them - not sure where you are (can't see the sig while replying) so no clue as to who is in your neck of the woods.

Don't waste your time or money on anything other than a lifetime warranty unit, though.

Yup ... sounds like an alternator, especially since changing the battery didn't help.

Either you bumped something loose, moved a wire by mistake, or just by coincidence your alternator decided to crap out at the same time you did your wires and plugs.
