I'd look at getting a new LS6 short block from GM or a new forged short block from someone like ARE,MTI,LPE etc. You could go with a stroker but they are never cheap.

My personal choice on my LS1 is a built bottom end with a stock crank with forged rods and pistons. TEA 5.3L heads or some well ported 6.0L or LS6 castings.

Why did you go to the new oil pump? Sounds to me that something got into the system, like dirt or the oil pump was not installed right.

Either way sorry for the loss.

I feel your pain, but you are on the wrong forum.... these people build exotic engines and debate theoretical and practical performance limits. Not a lot of them who rebuild LS1's and they are not a pricing service. I can't see why this wouldn't work a lot better if you asked the hundreds of people who actually own LS1's and who do a lot of work on them.

Moving to LS1 Tech......

Probably not advanced enough questions to be in the Advanced Tech...

Cost? Depends how deep your pockets are, but I'm sure you can count at least $5K +/- something. Depending how far you want to go with it. If you just want to replace the short block, I'm sure you can get do that even cheaper.

Stroker? Sure. Depends on your pockts again.

DID YOU REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN DURING YOUR SWAPS? THAT COULD BE CAUSING A PROBLEM...it is recommened that you replace the chain with a double roller forged chain...insurance my friend...the spray is hard on your bottom end as well

Good luck

After reading you other thread regarding ths issue...it makes me even more think your timming chain is hooped...your running low oil pressure...your oil pump runs of your timming chain...take it back to LS1speed and throw it in there face

is your engine oil really aereated? (lots of bubbles on dipstick) we have had a couple of this engines come in with a cut on the oil pump seal. the oil pump sucks in air and oil and your engine has low oil pressure and knocks as you stated. I would check that before anything ....btw I work at a chevrolet dealer
