HELP! Please....car is dead!
I was working around the engine compartment in my car. I did not disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. To make a long story short, I dropped the wrench, and it made contact with the positive terminal of the battery, and a metal (grounded) part of the car. Sparks flew, and the car alarm went off. I got my keys and hit the horn button to disable the alarm. I then hit the unlock button and got in the car. The car does not start, does not click, the lights do not go on. Everything is dead.
I checked the battery and it is fully charged at 12.68 volts. How expensive is my mistake?
Did I fry the ECM?
Maybe it is something simple like the theft system?
Please Help!

A similar case happend to me about 3 weeks ago, i too did not disconnect the negative terminal, but that was because i didnt have anything that fit the lug nut. Well I tried to use something else, but sparks flew, then i dropped it, then more sparks. Check the fuses, make sure they are good, it could be just as simple as a bad fuse, but I could be wrong
OK, the problem is fixed
Thanks to all who replied.
It turns out I got lucky and did not blow a fuse. I went out this morning, and engaged the car's alarm system, and then disengaged it. I got in the car and started it up. The car started, stumbled, and then the engine died. The security light was on.
A minute later, I started the car again, it started up and ran just fine. I drove it around, and it drove fine. So I guess the problem was with my security system.
