Help with oil leak please! pics

Hello, noticed my car would leave a small spot of oil every once in a while. I jacked it up today, and wiped it down a bit underneath. It seemed as whereever it was coming from, it coated the whole underside of the tranny. Can anyone tell from these two pics what it might be? I'm not too mechanically inclined, so if it's a dumb question, sorry..

Thanks for any and all help.

Crap.. I just noticed I posted this in LS1 tech when it's an LT1..

Sorry, Can someone move it?

Those pictures show seepage, not a huge leak.

I didn't see an area where oil was dripping off of.

Maybe clean under there with some (seepage spots) w/brake cleaner & recheck?

Have you checked the back of the intake & make sure it is not leaking there?

It is very common for SBC to leak from the timing cover....

ANd the leak on the back of the oil pan or over the front of the tranny is 90% sure.... Rear Main seal....

Do you have alot of miles? Or have you recently done tranny work and/or cam change? THat is is typically when it happens...

I think anyone with an LT1 would agree with me in saying that they always seep a little oil, especially at the front/rear main seals. Just the design of the motor nothing you can really do about it. As long as you don't notice the oil level going down between changes it's definetly not worth the time or money.

I agree Spray that thing with brake cleaner like brake cleaner is going out of style and clean it up and then wait to see if you see any dripping or how bad and how long it takes to secrete like that.
