Help my build my car..

Hey guys,

I am completely redoing my 01 M6 TA. I was going to get another car, but I think I want to redo this one. I need emissions, so that is a factor. Basically, I want a new cam and heads, full exhaust and ot make it Ram Air.

Here is my "wish list" at Thunder Racing. What else do I need to complete this?

I plan on switching out the motor/tranny next year to something bigger with a supercharger, but that's down the road.

Wish list:

Comments?

Where to start. The hood and headers are a good start. If this is only an interim package there are way way cheaper packages out there. Now if this was to be a build for keeps then maybe.

Check out the heads/cam packages at some of the other vendors.

The WS6 hood and the SLP air induction do NOT equal a ram air setup.

Al,

What type of set up do you recommend for cheaper?

Something like this

would be a good starting point.

What about the exhaust set up that I have in my TR wish list? How's that? Also, in the set up you suggested, how big of a cam can I go to still be emissions legal?

Cam sucks (too small), heads suck (overpriced pieces of crap. You can get Dart 225s for $1000 less and make more power), rockers are pointless, etc, etc.

You need to do more research here and/or follow what Al, Teke, and I have been saying for years.

Start over.

To stay totally emmisions legal you can NOT move the position of the cats so shorty headers would be your only option. Now if your area isn't too strict then you might be able to get by with the Mac mids.

As far as cams go it is again up to what the testing regimin is in your area. If they just do a sloppy visual and plug into the comp to look for codes you could get away with alot. With sniffer tests it will take a good tune to get anything more than a very mid cam by them.

In my area I know I can (although it's illegal) move the position of my cats...they just plug it into the computer and do a half *** visual to see if I pass. I just don't want to fail emissions.

you can find better cams with similar duration than that...but with better lift for the same price.

no need to buy a low lift cam and then a $600 rocker upgrade when you can buy the cam with the lift built in.

try Futral or TSP

then some budget heads like the Dart 205s or 225s...or even some of the budget LS6 heads.

oh by the way...read the last sentance in the description of the cam you chose..."not reccomended for use with 1.8 ratio rockers"
