There is this guy on another message board talkin crap about how his car will out handle mine and how he would kick my ***..all he has told me is that its a neon..if he is smart then he has an srt-4..i know there is an srt-4 around here with some spray but not sure what else mods are done if any. My car is pretty much bone stock...with the exception of lid, y pipe, and soon to be LM. I do realize that if this is even a stock srt-4 i will prob get my *** handed to me..but i was woundering if there was anything i could do to possibly get him. If he has a regular neon then i wont have to worry, what do the srt-4's dyno? 3xx?

 

it would be close, but if you get a good launch you should be able to take him. have a friend with a 99 M6 and he beat a SRT4, but he still considered it a loss because its a neon. just remind him that his car is a girls econmy car, and to come and race you in 5 years when his car has so many problems that it barely runs. as far as out handling him, go to aftermarket everything in the suspension.

 

depending what stage the neon is 1 or 2?The stage 1 is rated at 230 i believe.Its not their hp its their light weight that makes them so fast,but youd own him if he were stock.I believe the stage 2 is rated at 240.

 

You wont get your *** handed to you unless you suck at driving. Their fast, but you should still be able to outrun him without too much trouble if their stock. You put a a turbo on a crapy car, and it just becomes a fast crappy car.

 

a stock SRT-4 is not going to run better than 13.80 and thats with a decent wheelman...you should have him covered...

 

with a lid and LM, against a stock or near stock SRT4 you shouldn't have much trouble. as long as you don't botch the launch or any shifts.

as for handling...i think you'd be pretty even as long as you got good tires.

but throwing on a set of sfc, lca and front sway bar (or both) would increase your lateral abilities ALOT

what runs mid 2 low 13 ? I hope you aint talking about a stock neon SRT-4 . A stock LS1 should hand that car its *** " stock for stock " But with little work he can be running 12's .

 

How bout u tell him to take it on the highway, starting off the line is usually a problem with us so drop down a lil to 40 with him, or stay at 60 since i hear 40-60 is weak compared to the rest, and then just take him from there, i would think he won't have a chance unless he's got something big in it.

yeah you shouldnt have a problem with it just as long as you come off the line catching traction. just hook up a bottle of nos and hand him his a$$ left and right. lol....it would make us all happy..

 

Thanks guys yeah i wasnt sure if i could take him or not since i hear alot of them runnin 12's. I know that he is modded from what i have heard other board members say, with an exhaust and i think some BPU. I really dont want to run on the street or at all (warrant out for arrest ) so if anything i want to take it to the track.

 

I wouldn't be worried in an LS1, unless he's spraying or has Stage 2 or more.

I beat a basically stock SRT-4 from a roll 55-95 by about 1-2 car lengths. I was suprised how well it kept up, he got a jump and it was about even till halfway through 3rd, then I kept pulling. We get off the ramp and he says "Man, what do u got done to that thing?". I just say CAI, catback and cutout, and he looks a lil frustrated, but was cool and says nice run and goes his way.
