Help....Looking for a SS LS1 Hood......

Hey guys, I'm looking for a hood that will fit proprely that has the SS look. It seems as I have two and a half options. Either go with an OEM (GM) SS type hood (some aftermarket guys have this method where the air has to circulate b4 getting to the lid) that REALLY DON'T WORK too good, or go with the one from SCC that seals the airbox but I have heard from people on this board that the fit of the SCC leaves alot to be desired . The half option would be to go with the Ultra Z hood, but I really don't like the look as much as I do the SS look. IS there any hood out there that has a good fit, and that actually works that has the SS style. Im at my wits end.

Try to get a real SS hood off a wrecked SS. Thats your best bet. Look on Ebay or some various Fbody junkyards and youre bound to find one. It will be allot cheeper and might even be the same color.

I've got an American Sports Car Design hood....it's fine...was $759 when I bought it new.... Replica to the GM SS...has the ram horn ducting, it doesn't mate up with the airbox well, but you can add weatherstripping to do it and have it pressurized.......you'll get better ram air from the FTRA anyway......I personally have both... I think the Suncoast Creations is way overpriced..$300 for a friggin plastic box...

VFN has a new "SS style" hood in the works. I didn't really care for it at first but it's kinda grown on me.

i think it sits too high, in fact, in most places you can get tickets for having cowls higher than 3"........looks too rice to me...it would be better if it was just 1" higher...

If you are looking for OEM style ASCD is the next best thing IMHO it uses the GM SS hood scoop grill the ASCD SS hood is a direct mold from ASCD's 98 red SS.

Now nothing is better than OEM if you can afford it go for it if not aftermarket is your best bet. The SCC's SS hood has the 96-97 style hood scoop.

For pics of my 98-02 ASCD SS hood and Spoiler go to my site www.01pewterz28.cz28.com

I have owned 3 ASCD hoods (97 WS6, 99 WS6, and 01 SS) with no issues fits great.
