HELP!! Header install, mac mids
HELP!! Header install, mac mids
Got all the old exhaust off, manifolds and cats, ypipe. Could not get the drivers side header to go in from the bottom or the top (per the install guide i got on here) and the passenger seems it will go from the bottom but a piece of the block is keeping it from going. I can remove some of that casting and im sure the pass side will slide up. However i have no luck with the drivers side. I ran out of daylight before i could try unbolting the tranny brace and moving it side to side. Do any of you have any tips or any ideas? Thanks in advance. Did a few searches but didn't find anything helpful as far as the Macs are concerned
Re: HELP!! Header install, mac mids
umm yeah thats not to good if your having trouble fitting mid lengths up there. I was able to fit long tubes up mine perfectly and only had to remove the oil filter to get the driver side to go in. Stand back and look at it again. put light pressure on the oil pan. it wont lift much at all being still attached to the motor mounts but maybe it will move that extra inch or whatever. worth a shot.
Re: HELP!! Header install, mac mids
Well got everything in finally. Have to say it definetily helps taking a break and coming back at it either a few hours later or another day. Passenger side went in easy today, i was under the car and using different angles(buddy tried yesterday). Took jacking the tranny up and pushing it a bit towards the pass side to get the driver side in. Just have a few final things to button up. Y pipe is just a little loose on the I pipe either going to use a U bolt on it instead of the stock clamp or get a exhaust shop to take a look at it. Biggest problem is the Air fittings will not make it back into the tubing now, with the passenger side being completely off the mount is facing left to right instead of front to back and the driver side mount is on the 1st exhaust pipe and the air line makes it to the 2nd pipe and thats it. Going to order some block off plates and read up on the !AIR mod and do that, unless anyone has any ideas. Thanks for the extra info guys!!!
