Help car just went from very fast to very slow
Just got my car back from shop. Had 1 bend push rod and 1 that had broken. Car ran great until the 1 broke so took it to shop and had all new push rods installed. Now car has about half the power it had before I took it in. When the one broke I was driving thur town and I have not raced the car in a year and I never did the famous 3rd to 2nd shift either. The push rod that broke was caused by rubbing on the quide in the head so can anyone tell me where the power went cause it had all kinds before it broke.
If your pushrod was bent enough that it broke, chances are something else was quite damaged too.
When did this start happeneing? You just bent your pushrods from city driving? Does the car run quite rough at lough rpms? Give us some more details.

Car was running good even with the 2 bend push rods. Only time I new something was wrong was when one of them broke into. The way I figure is that the one was bent enought that it rub against the head guide until it was wore enought to finally break. I was just driving thur town when this happened so I was not going fast and like I said before I have not really ran the car hard since last year at the track and that is probably when they got bent and since then I probably put like 3000 miles on it so to me this took some time for this rod to finally wear enought to just break from normal driving so now after replacing all the push rods, car has lost a lot of power but runs alright but is a little rough at low rpms but fine after higher rpms. What bugs me tho is that it ran good without any miss right before this push rod broke and when put back together is not. So something had to happened either from rod breaking or putting rods in. Any ideas at all of what could be the problem.

if you have a bent pushrod, youll hear a ticking noise coming from the front, when you first start the car and maybe even after a little rev. My friend did the 2nd to 3rd and bent his. he came out with a longated hole also. he was up in the 8000 rpm mark after he hit 2nd!

I think I bent mine, but I don't know for sure. Thanks

Below is a link to a tech article on checking bent pushrods. Sounds easy enough but then again I've never done it. While you are in that far you might as well do plugs and wires if you were planning on it anytime in the not to distant future. What makes you think you bent a pushrod? If it is a ticking sound remember that most all of the ls1's tick some on startup (just ussuall valve train noise at startup) My ss does it, my dads 2001 ws6 did it, and his 2002 firehawk does it. The noise from a bent pushrod is more distinct.

Not sure why I keep thinking about this but one more thing to check is that the plugs and wires got installed properly after the pushrods were replaced. Get someone with an a-tap or take it to a shop and look for misfires etc, etc,
Hey thanks peeps for all the advice thats been great. Yeah I'm going to Atap and compression check. Just thought it might have been something little or hoping. I just thought that since when I took it to dealer and was running good before that maybe just putting it back together something went wrong but I guess my car doesn't like the new push rods over the bent ones. I got another one for everybody so I will post it. Any more advice here is welcome. O other then lost of power when getting on it. There is a miss at about 1800 rpms and then again at just before 4800 almost like the rev limiter kicks in and then goes on up to around 6000 ok and the same thing in all the other gears so if this sheds anymore lite let me know. Thanks Again
