help, can't get pulley off.

I have an auto ls1 camaro and i just took the starter off and can't get the flywheel to stop spinning with the screwdriver wedged. How did you guys do it? What did you use to wedge it ect.

The crank pulley?

It takes alot of elbow grease and a 2' breaker bar to do it by hand

I just tried again before you posted and just took that plastic cover that covers the flywheel where the starter goes and got good leverage with the screwdriver against the bellhousing but then I was nearly about to crack the huge screwdriver and the whole engine and tranny was moving.I was using a 3 foot breaker bar. I'll just bring it somewhere cause its all back togethor now. You think they'll rape me moneywise?

The whole engine/tranny might move a little. It's in there RIDICULOUSLY hard.

See if the starter is up to the job. Don't forget to pull the plug wires first Be careful as I've never tried it this way on the LS1.

You ARE turning it the correct way, right?

For what the shop is going to charge you could buy an impact gun, socket, and rent a compressor. Removing that bolt manually is a huge PITA on an automatic car. The impact is very useful here, and in many other repairs
