Heads Up Display...
Does anyone know if its possible to get ahold of a HUD from a Grand Prix or Vette and use it in a 2001 F-Body? I think it would be the ****, and since theyre all OBD2 i would think it might just plug in??? Maybe a custom install, but i can hadle that. will it work though?

Ooo ... Oooo ... I was JUST reading an article about this.
Yes, it can be done. No, it's not cheap. And it requires you to install a laptop computer in the car to run the display.

Thanks for the info. I was just reading this article, but it does seem like a pain in the ***. i am considering the purchase of autotap, but i think the HUD would look badass. this link shows a 95 pre OBD2 car. I would think that if we took a HUD out of a newer vette or gtp we could get better results for less money??? im not sure though, ill have to look into it.

interesting.. I like it.. Once its figured out how to get this butacite stuff on to improve image quality, and a nice way to mount the display inside the dash, the thing would kick ***.. Be a task of programming then.
It's not the stock look, but it's close

I wish they had a better picture of that HUD from Lingenfelter on the site. It looks interesting, but I'd like to see it in use.
I agree that HUD is one great feature lacking in our cars. Nothing irritates me more that having to take my eyes off the road to glance down at the speedo, regardless of how short a time it takes.

I have the opportunity to buy the complete HUD system out of a 97 Grand Prix. I also have a complete wiring schematic for my 99 firebird, and the Grand Prix. The seller of this unit assured me that it would be as easy tracking down the correct wires and splicing them into my wires. Granted it would still be a lot of work. Is the compatibility wishful thinking, or does this have the opportunity to actually go smoothly.
I have a feeling that the answer is going to be way more complicated than the question. Just for reference, I am not a newbie to car electronics, I am pretty good when it comes down to car audio and video. I just never worked with car functions.

Here is a review from a guy who bought one for his 90 vette.
