I have the LT and LM bothe from SLP. When I first put on the LTs I was thinking the same thing it was to loud! The same when I put on the LM it seem to break in after a month or so, now with my LT it sounds better now then it ever did but it has been broken in for 6-7mo now. Its still loud but sounds different? also it sound IMO bad as HELL if you get WIDE OPEN!!! Yea people do look, Because it's not rumbley at the light like the Slowmaster sounds, Now when I install my cam 224/224 with a 581/581 112 LSA it might be a different story. I might then need to quit it down with a slowmaster, I don't know? Yea it does get to you sometimes if your head hurts, but on those nice summer days WATCH OUT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

What do you think? I don’t understand what you mean when you say I can add a bullet muffler are you saying that I dump the slp muffler and add a bullet muffler or would this be like an addition to the slp muffler.
No problem. I get to hear all different kinds of exhaust set-ups all the time on LS1's, so I think I've got a good feel for what works well together on these motors.

SLP dual/dual with an electronic cutout would be perfect. Quiet and refined through the dual/dual(not annoying) and ridiculously loud with the cutout open. Much easier to evade cops this way too! BTW, used dual/duals are very cheap(like $200 or so).

About the bullet muffler, I just meant that you could put a Dynomax bullet on the intermediate pipe of whatever aftermarket cat-back you decide to go with. Basically, it would help clean up the tone a little. But I'd only recommend it with the Hooker, not the dual/dual since the SLP cat-back already is much cleaner sounding as it is.

Good luck man,

Mike

Just search the classifieds(especially locally) for people selling them off of their SS's. For instance, I usually see one pop up for sale at least every month over at www.mfba.org in the "For Sale" section. Same thing with this site or LS1tech.com or LS1.com.

If you can't find one by browsing through several pages, just put up a WTB post and you'll no doubt find someone who will sell you their's. Most people end up selling them because they are way too quiet on a stock LS1. Don't even bother with that $575 price thing...

Well I just placed an order for the SLP Dual/Dual and an electric cutout but now I have another concern. After driving in the car I realized that the fumes from the catless system are really getting to me I don’t mind the smell so much but I think the fumes make me feel woozy, anyone else feel the same way. So now I am thinking about putting the cats back on, but from what I hear the hooker ltb with ory don’t fit cats to well. Anybody have any recommendations and which cats are the best buy.

I can't smell any difference with the cats off. But mines not a daily driver anyway. If it were I would have left them on.
Heck, how many millions of cars were built without cats before the early 70s?

I didnt bother to read through every reply here, so this may have been covered, but adding cats back into your setup makes a HUGE difference. It quiets it down, it smoothens out the raspiness, and it also deepens the exhaust sound a bit.

I have Hooker LTs with a custom Y pipe and Carsound cats going through the Loudmouth with a Dynomax bullet in place of the resonator, and I absolutely love my cars sound. It is not too loud for me, and I have gotten many compliments from other LS1ers. I have personally never heard another car that sounded better to me.

When I put my FLP's on without cats, I could not stand the way the car sounded and smelled. I put the cats back on and could not be happier with the car. You might try the same.

After getting Dizzy, nauseous, and disoriented from the fumes from the cat-less and muffler-less system every time I drove my car, I have decided to install a custom Y pipe with Random Tech Cats and Hooker Cat-back Exhaust. I will also put in an electric cutout, the parts will be installed by the 12th Aug and then I will update everybody on how the new setup works out.

well, i cant say i have heard a car that has full exhaust and is too loud... Open headers is a bit loud, maybe even too loud... N e one who has had their share of shipping problems and impatience and installed headers without exhaust to match and has had to drive round with em knows the vibrating gets annoying but the sound is down right raw. I think some of u guys need to hear some cars with some real muscle car exhaust. I dont kno where u live but round here cops are pretty d*** strict sometimes and i have never been cited for noise violation...guess u guys need to turn down the hearing aids and live a lil if u dont like it...buy a honda
