Post headers installed....IDLING VERY ROUGH!! SES LIGHT!! HELP!

ok after I got my headers installed yesterday all was fine. But today when I fired her up the car was idling VERY ROUGH like a constant vibration when sitting at a stop light. Then the SES light came on. Anybody have any idea what is causing this problem? I am going to try to take the car to the shop today where it was installed to have them figure it out but I wanna try to get an idea of what it is.

The same thing happened when I had my 95 Z28. What it ended up being is that one of the O2 sensors were damaged during the install. I replaced all of the O2 sensors so that ther wasn't any variance from one side to the other. It ran fine after that.

Good Luck!

You might also want to check for exhaust
leaks that would give the O2's a bad reading.
After the first couple heat cycles, the
header bolts sometimes loosen up.

The problem may be caused by one or more spark plug wires in contact with a header tube. This would explain why the car ran well for a short time after the headers were installed. Perhaps a wire burned thru and is now shorting against the header. The SES light could be the result of the misfire occurring in the affected cylinder.

I just took it back to the shop that installed the headers and they plugged autotap into it. The #1 plug was loose and came out, 5 minute fix no more rough idle.
