headers

hey guys I'm looking at headers as my next mod. Any suggestions on what to buy. What is the best deal for headers? I saw a pair of shorty headers by hooker on tbyrne for $269.99 is there anything beating that? Last on tbyrne it says slp longtubes can give u up 2 a 41 hp gain is this true?

stay away from shorties unless you're not going to do the whole exhaust.... shorties suck ****. go w/ LT headers, i like QTP, but if you're trying to keep the costs low, go w/ jet-hot or hooker LT's, a good Y pipe and whatever exhaust you want to get. dynomax, borla, corsa, loudmouth, magnaflow... w/e. have fun

most guys pick up 18-26 hp at the tire with long tubes.

Shorties will pick you up 4-8 depending on year and what engine mods are done..

I'm lookin at the Thunder Racing\QTP\Grot's myself for between 700-800 online ... probably will purchase them this summer. FLP's package also seems like a good deal, but I'm only look for LT's since I plan to go true dual sometime down the line (why pay for a y-pipe I won't use?) You guys know the typical amount of time it takes a shop to install them?

..you can get the FLP's longtube's...just the headers only for 799.00

...I love my FLP's, they are well worth the money

The QTP/Thunder style are probably the best, but if you're looking for a killer deal.... http://www.ls1tech.com/ubb/ultimateb...;f=10;t=001630 You're not going to lose much performance by saving big money on these. Great deal, especially considering that is a shipped price.

this is a bit off subject, but will the MAC's bolt up to my stock cats and what not being that they're midlengths? and are the MAC's better than the QTP/Thunder that Shempy stated earlier????

Macs (mid-lengths) will be relatively close to long tube headers on a near stock car. But the more horsepower you add, the more the long tube headers will benefit you.

Your stock cats won't mate up to Macs.

IMO, the QTP/Thunder LTs are the best performance header available, and probably the best all-around header, I have yet to hear anything negative about them.

It looks like there will be a GP on them (the QTPs, not Thunder) pretty soon: http://www.ls1tech.com/ubb/ultimateb...;f=10;t=001544

Check out www.provenperformanceconcepts.com
This guy is serious about his long tubes for the LS1.
Tell him Mike Martin sent you over from CZ28.com

Go to the site and click on the contact page, email Gordon and ask him.He is not too busy to talk to his potential customers and really takes the time to make sure you are satisfied.

I wont run any thing else on my car.

Later

shorties are a waste of money.

As for which header to choose, I would have to say the QTP headers, they seem to be best out there, I haven't heard a complaint about them yet. Every other header out there seems to have some kind of problem.

I am going with these headers over the summer, you can get them here www.quicktimeperformance.com

prices

I heard long tubes were better but im goin to keep my flowmaster muffler on with headers. If i got long tubes would I have to get a y pipe? I was high on the shorty headers just for the fact that they were 270. I wud b able to purchase them in less than three months for that price but 500 for long tubes wud take a while to save up for

Start saving......

With any LT or Mid your going to have to replace the Y pipe. The shorties are really not worth the money, you can get much better power with that $250 on other mods.

LT headers are going to run you $1000-1400 with cats and shipping. You will gain about 20-30 rwhp which is equivelant to 25-35 engine hp, it is definetly worth the extra money.
