Exclamation which Headers?

What are the best bang-for-the-buck headers? I have an 02 Z28. What will give me the most power for the money? Where can I buy them? Thanks.

Re: which Headers?

Longtube headers all gain about the same HP +/- 5. It just depends what car you put them on. make your choice based on the quality, what you like, and what you can afford.

Exclamation Re: which Headers?

I dont know much of what to look for. I have about $600-800. What is the best in that price range. I will only gain 5HP?

Re: which Headers?

if you're in cali like your sig says....LTs won't pass emissions.

and shorties are not enough gain over stock 01/02 tubular manifolds to warrent the cost.

Re: which Headers?

LOL sorry, no I meant longtubes will gain plenty of HP, but don't expect to see identical gains to your buddy's car. If he made 25 rwhp with headers, expect to see anywhere in the range of 20-30gain, etc.

ORP is an offroad y pipe, basically it's an exhaust pipe without catalytic converters.

I got my entire exhaust system for an extremely low price because I have some friends in the right places.

SLP advertises the kit (headers, ypipe, install kit & catalytic converters) for over $1000, but look on ebay, often you can find killer deals there on new stuff, or used if you don't mind going that route.

Re: which Headers?

So what ever headers I decide to get, I should get the ORP y-pipe also? Do all the LTs gain the same? Since the stock exhaust manifolds are smaller than LTs. Will the LTs replace the cats / y-pipe too?

Re: which Headers?

all LTs given the same size primaries will give the same hp gains +/- a standard error.
even the same headers on 5 different cars will probably gain 5 different hp numbers.

SLPs are stainless steel, which lasts a long time, but are VERY $$ and the clearance is the worst of all the headers.

Kooks are stainless as well, but also $$
Dynatechs are good quality but i'm not sure of the material.

for reasonable price look into Flowtech, Pacesetter, Jet-hot

i got my flowtech Lts, orp, gaskets, o2 extensions and a few clamps for under $600 shipped

Re: which Headers?

Long tubes are long tubes, i wouldnt pay an arm and a leg for a certain name when they yield the same gains. I went with coated Pacesetters for less then half the cost of some other headers..... Im not disapointed with them the least bit. They are only $280 uncoated and like $350 coated, you cant beat that kind of price.
