headers
I'm looking at buying headers and a Y pipe for my 99 ls1. I was wondering what brand of longtube headers would give me the best performance as well as minimal loss in ground clearance. I appreciate any suggestions.

The only header to stay away from considering ground clearance would be SLP's. They hang 1.5" lower than all others.
After that, you've got a lot to choose from. You can go for quality and pay upwards of $1,000, or you can go the most basic NON-coated for $250. For a budget I recommend doing coated Hookers or Jet-Hots (practically the same). I've been hearing a lot of good things about Pacesetters as well. Also cheap, and I believe they are coated too.

a little plug for a company i've had good luck with:
www.texas-speed.com
they have their pacesetters on sale right now, well free shipping at least. $375 for coated WITH emissions or WITHOUT, and $125 for a 3" offroad Ypipe.
and also a killer deal on the o2 extensions.
