Which Headers???
I'm very happy with my QTPs.
I haven't looked at their site in a while though...so I have no idea if Barry has got around to making the cat Y-pipe yet or not. Or, I guess you could just go the custom Y route.

Because the cats are now father away from the combustuion cycle (exhaust valve portion), which means the exhaust is now cooler. This equals to a longer period of 'open loop', which allows the cats to fully warm up and burn the need emission as per manufactured. Relocating them means they, for how ever much longer, cannot operate and burn off the emission from the combustion cycle. Therefore you have succesfully increased your emission output by adding long tube headers, let alone some cars run richer with a freer flowing exhaust (mine and two others' I know did).

CA is strict too. Sure, you can purchase C.A.R.B.-legal headers (California Air Resources Board) approved, but the State has circumvented a way around that too: by requiring you to pass a "visual" inspection as well. If they open the hood and see anything besides stock exhaust manifolds, you could fail. Of course the trick is to find a shop that checks emissions that "doesn't necessarily pay too much attention to that kind of stuff"... if you know what I mean

There's practically no difference in the stock manifolds and shorties. They aren't worth buying and sure as hell aren't worth the pain of switching out.
