Angry Header Nightmare!

I picked up some new FLP Longtube headers and me and my buddy installed them, really easy to install. Well, the car ran great for about 2weeks or so, maybe less. It started missing and the SES light came on. Got the code P0174 "lean bank 2" and another code???? multiple cylinder misfires. That narrowed it down to a few hundred things!! So we figured it was a electrical problem, to much heat to the O2 sensor so I put some EXTRA protective heat wrap on the passenger side (bank 2). Still the same thing.....the car runs ok after reseting the computer, but let it idle for 10 minutes then all hell breaks lose. After going through the wires and talking to some shops I decide to take the header off. Ah, 2,4,and 8 all have exhuast leaks!!!! But the computer was saying that #6 cyclinder was misfireing!! But that makes since know since it thought 2,4,and 8 was lean it DUMPED fuel on 6 to which it was drowning since 6 had no leak! After reinstalling the header 3 times now with the GM metal gasket and the same problems!!!!! I decided to call FLP and a guy there has told me to use there gasket with some "Super Copper" RTV sealer between there gasket and the header. The guy said he has done dozens of FLP header installs on the LS1 and they have yet to leak with the FLP gasket and RTV sealer.

I will perform this task this Saturday and let yall know how it goes. Yes the driver side is fine with the GM gasket and I have been torqueing from the center out 11ft first the 18ft second pass. I also used a staight edge on the header and the block and they look flat!

FLP said they get calls like this alot, and there answer was don NOT use anyother gasket but theirs!

Here is what I did.....After removing the header again I realized that the new GM metal gasket had NOT leaked with the NEW FLP header! Stunned I was. But I still followed the game plan of using FLP's gasket with the "Super Copper" RTV sealent and put everything back together. The only thing was that I changed out the O2 sensor for bank 2 and removed the cats. The car ran fine untill I installed the cats a couple of days later! So I made sure there was no leak by the collecter near the O2 sensor and changed the 02 sensor out again. And I have been reseting the computer between the switches. With the other 02 in place the car really ran bad!

So I bring the car to the dealership and my service guy plugs into the computer and looks at the codes, he knows all my mods, and say's "It's a bad 02 sensor"

I installed a brand new 02 sensor last Friday and so far the car is running normal.

So, I guess that during the process of all the header leaks with the first header......causing the lean condition witch inturn causes the computer to DUMP fuel to that bank managed to burn out my 02 sensor!

Iam sick of talking about the problem I have had if you know what I mean.....As a matter of fact my cam/pushrods/retainers/valves springs will all sit in my room for a few more months before being installed
