Re: Head/Cam install this week....

that was at .550 according to the company that ported the heads. These are the 225cc heads not the 205's.

Re: Head/Cam install this week....

those are HUGE heads for that mild cam....I wonder how they will work together. Doesn't seem well matched, anyone else share the same opinion? I'm no expert...

Re: Head/Cam install this week....

agreed...gonna have **** for low/mid range power, especially if they enlarged the runners any more.

it will probably dyno high at peak...which is nice for selling parts...bad for winning races

Re: Head/Cam install this week....

The heads are not too big according to the company I am purchasing them from.

Precision Motorsports of Florida
Dart LS1/6 225CC Ported, Polished & Coated Heads & Cam
[DartPKG-1] $2,249.00

This is a package deal that includes the Dart heads as well as a custom made camshaft to your specs and driving needs. We highly recommend these 225 runner heads over the 205 runner version for anyone who will be running a 220 duration or .540" lift or more camshaft. With this new design from Dart, we have found that we can run the 225 runner heads and NOT lose any low end torque - but we get the gain of the larger runners ability to flow air even at higher RPM's. The heads come with new stainless 2.055" / 1.60" coated valves and coated combustion chambers, as well as your choice of Comp Cam 26918 beehive style springs (good to .600" lift) or Crane 144832-16 dual springs (good to .650" lift). They are shipped ready to bolt up, just swap your stock or aftermarket rockers on.

And the cam you have is the one they recommended?? If so, I'd say you shouldn't have anything to worry about..

Re: Head/Cam install this week....

Precision designed the cam to go with my particular head/cam/exhaust package. I will be posting the results this weekend.

Re: Head/Cam install this week....

maybe the combo will work.

i guess i'm just being the "devil's advocate" on this. i mean...the heads should yield a great peak power...which is what helps sell products. and since the company wants to sell stuff...of course they're gonna tell you that it's the best choice

not everyone looks at the whole picture when it comes to things like h/c upgrades. they think it's all about peak power. when in actuality it's more about power under the curve.
