have you ever...........;)
have you ever...........;)
no just kidding, but is anyone running straight 3" or 2.5" pipes from the cats back, no muffler, resignator, chambers nothing! just straight horsepower!!! hahahah ya anyways on stock headers and Y pipe, so ya i just want to know how it sounds cuz im probably gonna do it wednesday or thursday and its soooo cheap im stoked! ya so if u got um let me hear about it!thanks , nick
Re: have you ever...........;)
Yuck, stock manifolds & cats? Why? I don't see that sounding too great.
Just get some stainless long tubes and two turndowns. Or forget the turndowns. Just some SS LT's.

Re: have you ever...........;)
why? beacuse im 17 thats why lol i don't have the kind of money just lying around in my little piggy bank to go spend on all that stuff lol but good idea though
i was gonna buy the gmmg cat-back but its so damn expensive i'd rather save my little amounts of cash. so ya im just gonna get straight pipes
does anyone ACTUALLY know what it sounds like, instead of just yuck lol

Re: have you ever...........;)
I have a Mac off road y-pipe and dynomax Bullit style muffler dumped before the rear axle. I spent less than 200.00 dollars on it and it sounds great. I am saving up for Long Tubes and true duals I wanted better than stock but didn't want to spend the money on a cat back to just take it off. U might want to try that instead of no muffler.
Re: have you ever...........;)
Dude, i see you're in Cali. Good luck running around the streets of Cali straight piped for long... especially in the Bay Area. The cops will come down on you quick if they hear that thing.
Re: have you ever...........;)
before the cam install i ran flowtech long tubes, offroad pipe into an 18" bullet muffler, then a 3" pipe out over the axle.
it was too loud and raspy...but that was due to the lack of cats. with cats i bet it would sound reasonable. after all that's basically what the LM is.
right now i'm running a big cam through LTs, 3" xpipe and no mufflers dumped at the axle.
it's LOUD and drones above 2K rpm. highway is almost unbareable after an hour or so.
but i like it....least till i can put 2 bullets on it to tone down the rasp a bit.
and YES....i'm working on a video still....one of these days

Re: have you ever...........;)
yeah i just installed one on my car, and it is nice having the option when i go out with a girl to a classy restaurant and i get to cap it so it is quiet. then when i go out with the homies and let loose with this up capped.... coolest 60 bucks i ever invested....
Re: have you ever...........;)
ya i talked about it with pops last night and we decided on getting two straight pipes from each cat all the way back w/ some nice tips. but instead of just staight im gonna put two loud mouth bullet mufflers. How does that sound to you guys? im thinking somewhere in the $250 price range sounds right to me (http://www.lmperformance.com/5577/1.html)
but the idea of a cut out sounds awesome and i saw there are electronic ones, how hard is the wiring and could i do it myself with my absolute zero knowledge of wiring?? maybe it could be a learning experience lol

Re: have you ever...........;)
dual pipes all the way out the back is not an easy thing.
you have not got much room to route the pipe over the driver side of the differential. you can run 2 side-by-side over the stock route but i think that even requires altering the panhard brace. BMR makes a piece for this i think.
it's been done, but it's not easy.
as for those mufflers. i think you can do better for cheaper.
look into the sweet thunders chambered mufflers, or just do some 24" bullets from summit racing.
electric cutouts are easy to wire. all you have to do is hook up a ground, and then to a 12v power source. run the wires up into the cockpit and install the switch someplace. a good place i've pulled 12v from is the cig lighter since its always hot. or you could do the radio so that it's only hot when the ignition is on.
i'm sure there are other power sources in the rear, but i've never really looked.

Re: have you ever...........;)
I recently helped wire up an E-cutout. It's really simple. The hardest part for you might be getting the wires run. Pick a +12v source that's only on with the ignition, there are a couple of them in the armrest and they're pretty easy to get to. Decide where you want to mount the switch if you go with one, then ask me where to splice in if you can't figure it out.
I recommend you go with an E-cutout or two, they're super neat!
