Gutted my cats... no SES??

Well ive only driven about 30 min since i did it, but, no ses light...

Will it eventually come on? if does, i can get o2 sims cheap/easy no prob... im just wondering...

also, one of the 3 bolts on the passenger header snapped while taking it off.... seems ok, doesnt feel like any leaks...

btw - sound GREAT! just cutted cats, and flowmaster muffler... love it...

when i put my orp on, it took nearly a month for the SES light to come on.

i do mostly 10-15mile trips...but a few were nearly and hour long...

then it finally came on. just get the sims..

there is some power to be gained, kindda like adding a free flwoing muffler, it decreases backpressure.

since they are pretty good from the factory, and there are 2 unlike some older models that had one....there is probably only 5-7hp to be gained.

not reallly noticable...but the sound is GREAT

It will take a little time for the code to set.

The Catalyst monitor tests the converters ability to store 02 after converting the N0x,HC and C0 to less harmfull gasses. when the test is run teh computer needs to see a delay inreaction speed from the switch of the front 02 compared to the rear 02. the ses light will set after the test fails during 2 consecutive key cycles.

give it time. it will set

Personally I noticed some power after gutting the cats, (mated with borla catback had it on before gutting the cats), I felt alittle loss on the low end but a nice gain up top. Racing against a z28 same year as mine with same mods but full cats I always edged him out on the top end by about 1/3 of the car in each gear.

I don't plan on ditching the cats till I get LTs. I run my cutout open all the time and I think it sounds awesome as is.

Back when I gutted my cats (before headers and ORY) I changed my oil as well, and the SES light came on at exactly 100 miles, dont know if it was just by chance or what. And I liked the sound after the gut I have a Hooker muffler, but now after the LT's and ORY Im not liking the sound.
