Whenever I am in reverse and give it gas I hear a sound kind of in between a rattle and a grind. I think i had this in my old v6 firebird but I can't remember. Has anyone had this? Also would any of the following void the warranty to fix it:

Catback Exhaust
Cutout w/electronic Valve

I don't think any of those mods would void a warrenty on your trans.

Sounds like your reverse synchro may me toast, or your stick needs adjusted?

How many miles on the car?

Has it been slipping out of reverse?? Mine slips out if I don't catch it right. I usually hold my hand on the stick while I'm backing up.

It's an automatic and the grinding kinda sounds like its coming from the rear of the car maybe...hard to tell

 

What model year is it? If it is under warranty get the work done by the dealer.LOL.
