Re: got a quick ?

If it's the ls6 upgrade i'm thinking about, they're just talking about using the intake manifold from an ls6, not an engine swap. Other than that, your question is pretty vague. There's lots of paths to take to get to 500hp. Short of getting the supercharger, i don't know of any way to get to your goal with only 5k to spend.

Although, a 150 shot of N2O would get you there.

Re: got a quick ?

no the LS6 top end swap in not the best way to go, IMO. There are better head and cam setups. There are a few questions that come to mind, do you mean 500rwhp or 500fwhp? Do you have an A4 or an M6? Is the car a daily driver or a weekend toy?

If you already have 5K, there is a lot you can do, you just need to decide on what you really want to do. If you really want to do a supercharger setup then for now keep saving or start your shortblock buildup.
For $4994.99 we can do a long block built to handle lots of boost.

Re: got a quick ?

I *personally* would do an LSx stroker motor (382 / 395 / 408 for example) with heads, cam, the entire works. I know there are rotating assemblies available for around ~4k or less, and then you might need a little extra to get the heads, but you could always upgrade them later. A well built stroker with the right parts could easily get you close to the ~500 mark ... probably within easy reach of a ~50-75 HP shot of nitrous!! (you could probably get 500 at the wheels with the right hit of nitrous on that motor!).

Your car is as retarded as ****.

BTW, that 20|| decal to show that you're riding 20s is played the **** out.

Anyway, besides that:
Building a heads/cam car to pass emissions and make 500 horsepower on the motor is easier than you think.

Some AFR 205cc or Dart 225cc heads along with a small cam like the Futral Motorsports F2 224/224 on a 114 LSA along with a FAST 90/90 intake manifold/TB and dynotune will put you there. Make sure you have the supporting mods (headers, etc) and make sure you run cats so that you can pass emissions.

Just makes it easier for us to understand what you're trying to ask.

Are you talking 500 whp or fwhp?
What Kraest suggests can get you to ~500 fwhp.

500 WHP....

From what I've read the LPE GT2-3 is a very popular forced induction cam. Knowing that, I'd speculate the TR CheaTR and MTI Stealth cams would be good for that too. All give you a nice smooth idle with the GT2-3 being stock sounding. I'd also rather run turbo than supercharged. Plus I'd look for a 6.0 to build. More cubes will just make it easier to hit your goal and cost less than stroking the LS1.

X-pipe is going to be do-able only with a true dual setup. You're better off getting a 3" or 4" Y-pipe setup with a 3" or 4" single exhaust through a Dynomax Ultraflow muffler (Flowmaster doesn't flow worth a **** and robs horsepower) For headers, I'd do the Hooker Longtubes or if you have the money, the Kooks.
