Got my car on the Dyno...this look right???
Got my car on the Dyno...this look right???
i put my car on one of those trailer dyno's at a car show just to see what it would say and i was kinda hoping for more but maybe for no reason...here's the printout it said i have 302hp and 318 torque...that just seems low to me for having an SS with LT's and full exhaust, lid, & MAF...what are your thoughts??? thanks
Re: Got my car on the Dyno...this look right???
That's a dynojet dyno. They read higher than a Mustang dyno. They are the typical dyno.
Had you pulled the car to 6200 rpm, you would have probably peaked around 305 or so. Still weak though. What was the a/f on that pull? Any track times?

Re: Got my car on the Dyno...this look right???

seems like i've always read that the mustang dyno reads low.
it very well could have just been a bad pull.
car was heatsoaked, air was warm/humid or something like that.
the maf could be messing up the a/f causing a low output. i'd say with your mods you should be in the 320s...so you're not that far off.
and realize the SS really does nothing on a dyno that a z28 won't do for the most part.
i mean...suspension and apearance don't aaffect the dyno, neither does the ram air.
Re: Got my car on the Dyno...this look right???
Yes, I'd say those numbers are low. I had a '99 SS (M6) with FRA!, filter, lid, granatelli maf, bellow, stock manifolds, oryp, borla, 160* stat, and a stock tune that pulled 330rwhp on a dynojet. The temp was about 50* in the shop, it was raining that day, and the car wasn't completely up to operating temp. Had it been perfect conditions, there may have been a little left in her. Granted every car is different, I'd still be a little concerned about where you could be missing some power.

I would swap out that maf, as it has been seen that the stock maf is good for atleast 450hp. The aftermarket ones tend to lean out the a/f mix to try and get you more hp, but I think they end up hurting you more than helping you.

Those numbers are low.
My A4 with the stock 3.23 gears, 3" exhaust with cutout open, stock cats, stock ypipe, stock exhaust manifolds, stock torque converter, a SLP lid and the free ram air mod made 305 rwhp and 323 lb-ft of torque. You should be a lot higher with long tubes and since sticks dyno higher.

Re: Got my car on the Dyno...this look right???
see i thought it would be in the 320 range to that's why i was very disapointed in the numbers...it was at operating temp (arround 180 maybe) because that was the second run...i think part of the problem was those guys didn't know what they were doing cause they looked like a bunch of monkey working on that thing...but yeah that sucks...i don't think i'm gonna go by those numbers, i'm just gonna have to save my money and go to thunder racing and get them to tune it cause i need that anyways, we'll see what they say...thanks a lot guys
Re: Got my car on the Dyno...this look right???
54,600 roughly...not sure on the tune up...havn't checked the plugs or anything...they had a couple fans in front but i dunno if it was enough
Re: Got my car on the Dyno...this look right???
well id maybe check those plugs and do the usual tune up type of things (air filter, fuel filter, plugs, wires maybe) and then see if that helps worst case scenero you get a tune up with no gains haha
