got grind??
got grind??
i have a 99 formula firebird w/the 6speed no mods and 50,000 miles on it. i have difficulty getting it into the reverse gear; the gears grind from third to 4th at about 3K rpm i think in need a new clutch so what wood be a good replacement and how hard its it to take the trans out thank you
I don't think the clutch is the only problem...if it's a problem at all.
These trannys go bad. Tremec (the tranny manufacturer) put in cheap parts. That's all there is to it
The syncros have a paper composite lining instead of brass...and the 3-4 shift fork is aluminum and not steel (it bends). The Viper gets the good stuff...but if you save $20 on each transmission and multiply that by 50,000...
This is my second M6 LS1 with tranny problems. It ****ing pisses me off
You're going to need a tranny rebuild. Try to source the good stuff from D&D transmission in Michigan.
