Is this a good price to have all this installed?....

This guy is a Mechanic for GM at a dealership and of course is ASE certified. He has worked on many Fbodies with no complaints. He put together a badass 572ci engine for a 68' maro. He knows freakin everything there is to know about mechanics and I do know him.

He is charging me $1350 to install the following:

LS6 PRC stage 2.5 heads
The Trak cam from Thunder racing
37# injectors
Pulley
Fast 90/90
Push rods
Timing chain
And a tune to get the car running and streetable until we can take it to the dyno...

where he said he would charge me about $100-$150 to dyno tune it right.

So is it a good deal? Or should I have gotten a better break because he is my buddy?

if hes good at tuning, id say its fair to good. many shops get 400-600 for the cam alone, and 250-500 for the tune. id say go with it. many other would be much more expensive, but there will be a few that can/will do it cheaper.

i paid 1400 for installation of
headers
orp
catback
cam
heads
pushrods
thermostat
leakdown test

and they even gave me a cushion included in the price for future add ons. so when i had my injectors, pcv conversion, and intake on, i didnt owe them a penny since they factored that in on the original work.

That is probably getting close to what a shop would charge depending where you go. See if he can cut you a bigger break.

then it would be a privlage to let him work on your car... also that price seems resonable, but persoanlly I think it's more about trust and knowing that the person will do a good job etc.,

I know he will, so I think It's worth it that I can sleep at night knowing other parts of my car are not being swapped out!
