You should be able to make 550-600rwhp with no problem on 93 octane (11.5-12:1) on a naturally aspirated LSX motor.

that is unreal on pumped gas. Should I Inject it or use a carb. Is that power level with a solid roller cam or Hyd. Thanks for all your help .

Why is that unreal? I'm making 530rwhp/505rwtq on a 93 octane 11.8:1 408ci motor with LS6 heads and a hydraulic roller cam through a Magnaflow chambered exhaust. The car went a best of 10.53@131 @ 3300+ lbs with a 6-speed and gets 27-28mpg on the highway.

The LSx motors are truly THE pinnacle of GMs SBC design.

There should be no reason why a motor with 50+ more cubes, better heads, and a bigger hydraulic roller wouldn't make 50+ more rwhp than I currently am.

As far as FI vs carb, obviously the nod goes to FI, but there's nothing wrong with a carb (besides gas mileage) if it's setup correctly.

I'm use to the old SBC. I built one about 13 years ago and it only had about 400 hp on pumped gas. 9.5 to 1 and a performer RPM cam and intake. I love the new LS1 and all the potential I have been reading about. Do you have a build sheet or recommended parts to get to build a hot LS1. thanks again for all your help

It really depends on your goals. There's no reason that you can't build an 346ci LS1 to 550 crank horsepower (470-480 rwhp) with a simple heads/cam/intake manifold change.

You can take an otherwise stock motor and do a top-end build on it by tossing on some ported LS6 heads or aftermarket heads like the new Trickflow 215cc heads, Dart 225cc heads, or AFR 225cc heads; a hot cam like the Futral Motorsports F-14, and the FAST 90mm intake manifold and LS2 90mm Throttle Body.

If you want to see what parts went into my build, you can click on my sig.

Not sure I understand the question...

If you mean the LS1 motor, it was swapped out for an LQ9 iron block, then built to a 408ci motor...I have the mods in the link in my sig.
