GMMG and CORSA
GMMG and CORSA
OK. Heres the deal. Ive got money to blow and its going to go on my car. Im stressing over which to get. Im looking for headers and an exhaust. Money is not an issue here.
As far as an exhaust goes Im trying to choose between GMMG chambered w/ oval tips cuz I love the way Bergers, TH's, and those cars sound with that setup or the Corsa Power Pulse RSC w/ premium pro series. Any suggestions!? What would be the ups and downs of choosing one over the other?
Now headers..Any suggestions to match up with one of the above exhaust systems? Just dont mention SLP headers cuz Im not a big fan of losing more ground clearance.

GMMG sounds awesome, but IMO the 700 bucks spent could net you a LOT more power
MAC makes great headers. My exhaust setup, and things that make it sound different are:
MAC headers (no clearance issues)
No cats
Hooker aerochamber
Hotcam
It sounds awesome. A lot of people ask me if there's a big block under the hood, no joke. I'll have to mod it slightly so I can get some tips on it, but anyways..
If money is no problem, then I'd say go for:
Hooker Super Comp long tubes
GMMG
Your choice of tips
Bigger cam
Cats are up to you
That would get you the sound you want. But if you get a cam, make sure to tune it asap. Wish I had mine tuned already
And yes stay away from SLP. SLP = Super Low Performance

Definitely go with the GMMG exhaust. You won't be dissapointed!
The GMMG sounds SOOOOOO much better than the Corsa!!! Corsa doesn't hold a candle to GMMG. As for tips, I would go with the Mecham oval tips. They look a ton better than the GMMG oval tips, but they cost a little more (Like $200 compared to $150). You could have gotten the GMMG for $650 from the f-bodyhideout.com group purchase, but it just ended and we got our exhausts. I'm sure Sleeper94z (moderator and gp organizer) will be having another gp in the next few months.

Hey,ADAMLS1,
I have the Corsa and I am satisfied with it. I have never heard the GMMG. What I did was I got an electric cut out because no cat back to me is loud enough. And when I get tired of the noise I can flick a switch and badda boom badda bing, quiet but it still sounds good.
I have decided to go with coated Jet Hot Headers with a custom catted Y pipe. If you do not have to worry about emissions I would also go with Jet Hot's catted Y or the off road Y. From what I have read on LS1.com, Jet Hot has made quite a few changes so that there are no clearance issues and installation is somewhat of a breeze compared to other set ups. Jet Hot is just a tweaked version of the Hooker Headers. I would consider Jet Hot the upper side of the middle of the road compared to other more expensive headers with ( I think) just about the same gains.

No other cat-back comes close to touching the WOT tone of the GMMG IMHO.
Although I personally think the GMMG(like any other cat-back system) sounds a lot better with CATS than without them on this motor...

Actually, I've heard that set-up many, many times on the LS1 and I personally think it sounds like complete A$$.

Exactly right. GMMG absolutely dominates loudmouth. And GMMG sounds better w/cats. IMO the loudmouth makes the LS1 sound cheap.

BTW, a stock-motored '01 M6 SS that I heard last spring with the GMMG and FLP LT headers(using highflow cats) was handsdown one of the best sounding muscle cars I've ever heard! I've never heard an LS1 sound that deep so far up in the rpm range at WOT.
I honestly thought I was listening to an LT1...

i like the GMMG too but i dont like how everyone writes off the LM. if u listen to a car with longtubes and a loudmouth, it actually sounds REALLY good. what most people dont realize is there is a 5 miinute period when u cold start the car that i admit it does sound like crap.....after that it doesnt pop, its a little raspy but it almost sounds like an open header big block....at least mine does
.
My GMMG set-up is a little on the loud side,
not saying I dont like it, I do.
It does rasp some part throttle but, more importantly I
get the wrong kind of attention, police.
Up here in the suburb's of chicago they suck.
I am not gonna' put the cats back on .
But I am goin to add some CC inserts into each ORP after the collector.
I have not heard them on a set-up like mine but I think it will help.
I'll post results, cause plan on installing them & going to track, to compair times before/after
