Getting Tuned Today...Predictions
Getting Tuned Today...Predictions
My car is over at Next Level Performance (norris motorsports) today getting tuned. After the header install this past weekend, it was running RIDICULOUSLY rich. Everytime I drove the car this past week and had the windows down, I smelled like gasoline. If you stood behind the car, you would start to feel sick cause there was that much un-burnt fuel coming out of the exhaust. You could hear an occasional pop here and there which I believe is gasoline combusting in the exhaust system. Either way, it is in dire need of a tune.
Before the headers, it was running rich as well for some reason. When I put it on the dyno back in march it made 322/338 with the mods in sig minus LT's & ORY, but the Air/Fuel was something like 11.8:1 or something like that.
Anyhow, I'm excited to get the car back this afternoon and see what kind of #'s it made. Any predictions? I'm hoping for both HP & TQ to be somewhere in the 350's. What do you guys think it'll put down today?

Re: Getting Tuned Today...Predictions
Anxious to see what you pull since we have similar vehicles and I'm considering going with a similar set up. I'll go with 349 just to edge out Teke, but 350's are possible. Torque should go up rather nicely as well with the longtubes.
Re: Getting Tuned Today...Predictions
Well...didn't quite hit that 350 mark.
Max Power = 341.0 Max Torque = 347.7
Not too shabby of #'s anyhow. The car feels a lot stronger though, a lot more torque throughout the RPM range. Even at 2,800 RPM's, the car is putting down putting down 310 foot pounds of torque at the wheels, and it keeps climbing from there. My scanner is acting a bit funny right now or I would upload the graph. I'll try again tomorrow when I have a chance to mess with this thing.

Dan,
How do you like your ORY pipe? I'm getting Pacesetters this winter and will be getting TS's new ORY pipe. Were there any fitment problems, banging, or ground clearance issues?

Re: Getting Tuned Today...Predictions
The TSP y-pipe had all sorts of issues going onto the car. I guess they forgot to expand one of the pipes before they mailed it out to me. Major PITA. I had to go to a muffler shop to expand it in order for the y-pipe to be fully assempled. I was pretty upset about that. Plus, it didn't mate up with the loudmouth all that well either. That was also a major pain for the exhaust shop. Lots of extra heating and bending. Because the y-pipe comes in 4 different pieces, there are extra exhaust clamps that will have to go under your car...more stuff to worry about for ground clearence. With all that being said, i really would not reccomend that y-pipe to anybody else. They only good thing about that y-pipe is that in comes in 4 sections, so you can choose to add cats to it in the future if you would like. After hearing the car and feeling how it performs with out cats...I will never put them back on. All and all, I would just save yourself a couple bucks and go with the pacestter y-pipe.
