Getting SS What exhaust should i GET!!!

Will be buying a 99 or 2000 SS soon what exhaust should i get for it i have loudmouth on my 95 Z28 and its loud. I could swap the exhaust but want a few other recommendations on exhaust because the loudmouth is loud and the neighbors dont like it too much at 3 in the moring. Heard Corsa sounds good what else?

Try to find some sound clips of different systems that you would consider, then make your decision from that. Well, and the looks (tips) too. Better yet, try to find some people in your area with exhaust and listen to theirs (nothing's better than hearing it in person).

The more popular exhaust systems are: Borla, Loud Mouth, Corsa, GMMG, "custom" tru-duals, Bassani, Hooker, Random Tech'...

From what I've read, Corsa isn't anything special w/ the stock manifolds and Y but...w/ headers and off-road Y it'll sound really good.
Corsa has sound clips on their site: www.corsaperf.com

Do a little searching here and on www.LS1tech.com to find more sound clips of different systems.

Also, everyone's going to tell you that their exhaust sounds the best but obviously, you need to make the decision because everybody has different taste and opinions.

I'm a big fan of the Corsa and the GMMG. I got pics of the Corsa in my sig. The Corsa has the sounds to match the looks, while the GMMG sounds sweet and saves on weight....either choice will make you a happy Fbod owner!

listen to them yourself. find them in your area. everyone who has a brand on their car will obviously (99%) of the time tell you theirs is best. i have GMMG on my LT1, so i recommend that. also do a search, this topic has been done at least once a week (yet i always find myself posting in it, lol) and the same people (like myself) post everytime for the most part. good luck in your search!

Agreed the only way to find the one you like best is to listen to them personally. On that note good luck with your choice. I throw in a vote for GMMG, especially for the LS1. As For the search, DO IT because you'll find many threads and many more posts on this topic alone.

depends on what your gonna do later if your gonna get headers forget the loudmouth and gmmg go with borla so you can quiet it down or make it louder if your planning on headers and have a thing for true dual exhaust wait and do the headers and true duals in one shot. but it is all up to what you like becuase oppinions are like a** holes everyone has one.

I have nothing but a cutout on stock pipes for now, but eventually I plan on a full Hooker setup (longtubes, y-pipe, catback) and I'll keep the cutout and get an electronic plate put on it for the occasional times when I want it to scream. From all the sound clips I've heard, Hooker sounds the best, especially for the price.

I've gotta put my vote in for True Duals!!!!!!! IMO, sounds the best, gives the most power (pretty sure this is proven), and looks really cool on Camaro's (no tips out the rear actually looks pretty cool, I didn't think i'd like it at first, but after gettin it on and seein it in person, it looks badass!!!!!!)!!!!!!!

It's also the cheapest!!! The Borla and Corsa are around $700 for just the catback, right? Well, for $840, you can have a full true dual exhaust!!!

Jet-Hot LT's - $540 shipped
Dr. Gas X-Pipe kit (3" in/out) - $220 shipped
Dynomax Bullet Mufflers (12" (or 18" if you want it quieter) long x 3" in/out) - $40 ea.

If you want a soundclip of my setup (Jet-Hot's, Dr. Gas 3" Kit, and 12" x 3" in/out Dynomax Bullets!!!), post and let me know, and i'll send it to ya. But it's about 7 megs (also, must be played in quicktime player), so I hope you got high speed access and quicktime! I also wish I had a clip of what it sounds like now, cuz that clip was right after I picked it up and it had a leak at one of the header gaskets and the mufflers weren't broken in yet, but it still sounds bad as all hell!!!!!!!! Now that the mufflers have broken in a lil and the leaky gasket is fixed, it sounds even better!!!!!!!!!

Well you can always do the Dynomouth setup on the SS..

I just ordered a 3" x 18" Dynomax Bullet Muffler, Edelbrock Chrome Angle Tips (2) all for $ 107 shipped from http://www.jegs.com
Plus I talked to an exhaust shop and I was quoted $ 80.00 for install of Muffler and Tips, plus I get to keep the stock muffler w/ stock tips as well.. All for $ 187 pretty cheap and I hope it will sound good though...

A Question for Loudmouth LS1..

How much quieter is the 18 " Bullet compared to the 12 " ???

Borla is the shiznits! I can't wait to get my hands on a 99+ C5 or F-body w/ ram air sometime this year -- hopefully around when I turn 18.

Well, i'm really not sure, i've heard from others that had 18" bullets on their true dual, that it was quieter than mine, but I've never heard it in person! But the 18" bullet is perfect for the dynomouth mod, you don't want the 12"!!! I have a couple friends w/ the dynomouth w/ 18" bullet, w/ headers and o/r y, and it sounds badass!!!! It still has some rasp (nuttin you can do on the y-pipe setup, will always have some), but the 12" would have way too much rasp!!! Trust me, you'll be very happy w/ the 18" bullet dynomouth when you get headers and o/r y!! I've never heard it on stock manifolds and cats, so I don't know, but i'm sure you'll still be happy!!!
